For instance in the first century John the baptist was the initiator and founder of what is called baptism and Jesus met this man baptizing people but later Jesus himself started baptizing people this really annoyed John's disciples as they rushed to their leader to report Jesus that he has stolen their master's idea and many are now going to him instead of John the founder of baptism {John 3:25-26} John have to explain to them that he has come to prepare the way for Jesus so that's the one everyone should follow. John 3:27-30

After John's death many of his disciples ed Jesus' group and began learning from Jesus but they later found out that Jesus' teaching sounds really difficult than that of their master (John the baptist) so they turned their backs on Jesus and walked away never to go back to him! John 6:64-66
