Good day Nairalanders! Few weeks now I have been drinking cold water due to the hot weather and I drink more than 10 satchets of water a day but my husband is not happy about the much intake of cold water. Please I want to know if there is (are) any side effects on the body due to excess cold water. Am in my late thirties. Thanks

Taking too much cold water daily can have various potential risks and effects on the body:

Digestive Issues: Drinking extremely cold water can shock your digestive system and hinder the process of breaking down food, leading to digestive discomfort or bloating.

Constriction of Blood Vessels
: Cold water can cause blood vessels to constrict, affecting circulation and potentially leading to headaches or migraines in some individuals.

Throat Irritation: Excessive consumption of cold water can irritate the throat and exacerbate conditions like sore throat or tonsillitis.

Impaired Hydration: Cold water may not be as effective at hydrating the body as room temperature or lukewarm water. This can lead to inadequate hydration, especially during physical activity or in hot weather.

Impact on Metabolism: Some studies suggest that drinking very cold water may temporarily reduce metabolic rate, which can affect digestion and calorie burning.

Dental Sensitivity: Cold water can exacerbate dental sensitivity in individuals with sensitive teeth or dental conditions.

It's essential to maintain a balanced approach to water consumption and consider factors such as personal tolerance, environmental conditions, and overall health status. Opting for water at moderate temperatures and staying hydrated throughout the day is generally recommended for overall well-being.

It can cause a LOT of problems. For instance sore throat, catarrh and decrease in heart rate.

Plus, it slows digestion. That can result in constipation. Constipation can lead to hemorrhoids and anal fissures.

Consider a cold bath instead.
