Deductions: Maritime workers issue 7-day strike notice
WORKERS in the Maritime sector, yesterday, issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to stop the implementation of the presidential directive on the 50 per cent automatic deduction from the Internally Generated Revenue of Federal Government-owned enterprises, as it affects the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.
The workers, in a statement by the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, and the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA branch, threatened to shut all port activities at the expiration of the ultimatum, if the deduction continues.
The statement by President-General and Secretary-General, MWUN, Prince Adewale Adeyanju and Felix Akingboye, and President and Acting General Secretary of SSASCGOC, Akinola Bodunde, and Eko Alli, urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter, warning that if the policy is not reversed, it would lead to irreversible industrial action and economic damage of the nation.
The statement reads: “The Nigerian Ports Authority, as the employer of workers who are our , is self-funded and receives zero allocation from the government budget. This means that it needs to retain most, if not all, of the funds it generates to be able to continue to effectively discharge its duties, which include constant dredging of our Ports, regular maintenance of our Quay Aprons, maintenance of Ports, Jetties, and Terminals, man Power development and discharge of Corporate Social Responsibilities.
“Without prejudice to the intentions behind the formation of policies to raise revenue for the Federal Government, it must be said that it is not advisable to introduce extractive policies to self-funding specialized entities as they will be subjected to unnecessary hardship and avoidable disruption of processes due to the revenue disruptions.
“Since it came into force, the list of negative effects of this policy of 50 per cent automatic deduction is growing at an alarming rate. Suffice it to say that the 50 per cent benchmark for deduction is inimical to the survival and growth of the NPA. It constitutes a direct threat to its growth, its operations, and ultimately its very existence.”
People are seeing the 50% tax deduction to bea child's play. It limits organizational staff performance esp KPI, funding of staff educational pursuits and some miscellaneous expenses that were not a burden on the organization is now a prob.
Jamoh is the first cause of 50% saga, now others are suffering for his runnings

Anxiety as CBN set to sack 19 directors
Nineteen directors at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are set to be dismissed in the coming days, following the recent termination of seven directors last Friday.
While two of the terminated directors have accepted their fate, the other five are planning to take legal action against the bank for what they consider to be an unlawful termination of their appointments.
The two directors who accepted their termination quietly are also facing a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) due to their implication in the Obaze report.
The termination letters sent to the seven directors cited “reorganizational and human capital restructuring” as the reason for their dismissal, in line with the bank’s new strategic direction.
The letters stated that their services would no longer be required with effect from Friday, 15th March 2024, and they were instructed to hand over all bank properties in their possession to their department’s immediately.
The five directors who are contesting their termination are reportedly upset as no wrongdoing has been attributed to them, and they have not been implicated in any misconduct. One of the directors affected has just two years and two months left in service. A source within the CBN expressed concern over the lack of an exit package for the terminated directors, especially considering their years of service and the absence of any charges or accusations against them. The source also highlighted the loss of 200 years of institutional knowledge and expertise that would result from the dismissal of these experienced directors.
It has been revealed that the remaining 12 directors who are yet to receive their termination letters are aware of their impending dismissal.
Some staff have made appeals to the management on behalf of the affected directors, requesting that the sack be reconsidered and converted to retirement to allow the directors to receive their allowances.
The situation at the CBN has sparked discussions and concerns about the impact of the dismissals on the bank’s operations and the fate of the affected directors. Nation
If director can be laid off just like that, what about other low ranking workers . Na wa
Wetin dey sup for CBN?

Ecological Fund Project is not new. It was established during Shagari regime and domiciled in the SGF Office with the SGF as Chairperson heading it's board, and a Perm Sec as Vice Chairperson and CEO.

My sister please don't pay any money for any online Canada job . Visa sponsorship doesn't mean that the company will pay for your Visa. What it means is that the company will be standing as guarantor for work permit in the country.
Furthermore looking at the charges required which maybe reimbursed or not...I sense SCAM.
Please look well. I wish you success
