The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, says the state government is planning to buy no fewer than 2,050 vehicles to ease movement across the state.

Osiyemi said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday.

He said that the procurement of the vehicles –Bus Rapid Transit — would further address queues at bus stations.

According to him, more BRT buses will also be provided with the of an oil company that has promised to government’s effort.

“We’re aware of the long queues in all our stations, especially on Mondays. We’re working better to serve the good people of Lagos State.

“We’re almost done with the procurement of 2,000 BRT buses to ease the queues in the stations.

“You know Lagos State believes in public and private partnership.

“Therefore, an oil company is giving us 50 electric buses in addition to the ones the state government is procuring.

“So, residents of Lagos State will no longer have to suffer the long queues,” he said.

The state government had earlier announced a plan to reduce transportation fares by 25 per cent in all routes.

The commissioner said that the announcement was one of the palliative measures to check queues in bus stations.

Hope the electric buses are not depending on hydrocarbon gen sets for recharge.
This is what Delta, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers should be doing based on allocation they are getting.

Let Lagos State government also invest in power generation and distribution , to boost electricity supply there contributing economic growth. transportation is not the only sector that demands attention. Yesterday it was blue line, last month it was red line, haba!

This is the best time for govt to empower small and medium scale enterprises. A serious govt should use them to drive up the economy.

Bros this is good no doubt,

the questions we should be asking here in Lagos, is what will they be using to charge those buses??

If Sanwo is Serious let him work on providing 24/7 Electricity and cheap too, and see the wonders it will do,

Lagos for all its glories is being held back by the electric issues
