Good day guys.

I'm a serving corp member currently serving in kaduna state and would be finishing my service year in a Month time.

Now, my question is: did you stay back in the state you completed your youth service and searched for a job, or did you went back home to your parents?

For me though, I'm loving it here in kaduna state (I'm from Niger state, Minna precisely).

Also, it's literally my first time traveling out of my state to another state, and it's also my first staying alone (I completed my degree in Minna, from my parents house for that matter 😔). So, it's my first time getting freedom.

Now the thing is, I had a boss in Minna (where I finished my IT from) who wants to employ me in his estate firm (I studied estate management), I also received a call from my dad this morning that the civil servant recruitment portal has been opened today and I should .

Now, I don't really want to end my life in Niger state (like I literally grew up there, schooled all my life there).

I know most people will be willing to jump on both offers (citing the unemployment rate in the country).

I have a digital skill in web development (React frontend developer precisely), but I've not really had luck with getting a job.

I actually applied for cyber security science and was given estate management instead, so I'm not keen on really going into practice even though I graduated with a good grade (strong 2:1).

What do you advise I do at this point? I really love kaduna state (maybe because it's my first time traveling out to another state?).

And wouldn't want to go back home.

Also, I feel like I'll grow more if I leave my comfort zone, and not going back to my parents house sad.

Ps: I'm 24, and would be 25 this year.

Hope u were not like the foolish corpers who spent their allowances on female corpers hoping to get some kitten in return. If u saved up like 6months of your allowances, the transition from a corper to a working class, either self employed or employed would be seemless.

Trust me, 33,000 naira isn't a lot considering the cost of foods, transportation to my PPA etc in this economy.

Also, we had to get a house with a friend of mine for 125k 3 months after coming to Kaduna.

So, that isn't even an option.

And no, I have no girlfriend to begin with undecided

They say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
For me, I think you should apply in the Civil Service and also notify your previous boss that you would like to take the position while you also rally round In Kaduna. Try to submit your Cv at appropriate firms and also see if you could fit yourself in the world of the self employed ( this might be difficult if you don’t have any saved up funds from somewhere). Also I don’t feel getting a job at minna would stop you from exploring other area, it kind of buys you time to see if there’s any other niche you could flourish more in.

All the best

It sounds like you have a few compelling options ahead of you, each with its own set of considerations. Here's my advice:

Consider your Career Path: Reflect on your long-term career goals and which option aligns best with them. If your ion lies in web development or another field related to your digital skills, pursuing opportunities in that area might be the most fulfilling path for you.

Evaluate Job Offers: Assess the job offers you've received carefully. Consider factors such as career growth potential, job satisfaction, work-life balance, and location. If the job offer from your boss in Minna aligns well with your career goals and offers a promising trajectory, it might be worth considering.

Explore New Opportunities: Since you enjoy Kaduna State and feel like you'll grow more by leaving your comfort zone, consider exploring job opportunities in Kaduna. Being in a new environment can present new opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Stay Open-Minded: Keep an open mind about different career paths and opportunities. Your degree in estate management doesn't necessarily limit you to that field, especially with your digital skills in web development. Explore diverse opportunities that align with your interests and skills.

Or
Go back to Minna and be coming to Kaduna for vacation every six months grin

You better go back to Minna and collect that civil service job. That civil service will give you enough time to learn skills in IT. The job won't stop you from during remote job for Frontend. That 33k still dey shark you, by the time you stay and Kaduna and you didn't see any reasonable job for three months you will understand.
Many opportunities dey your front you still dey ask questions. Come and ask us that stay 1 year at home looking for job after NySC

Please the civil servant recruitment portal is it in your state or the national?
If national please can you search link.

It’s good to have your freedom at least you have where to fall back if things didn’t work out for you .

My advice stay back and try your luck if you can succeed if not go back home where you have job waiting for you already.

You can rent house in your state too if you don’t want to stay with your parents.

Op if you saved like 6months allowance, your savings would have worth -50% in value now.
I just hope you chop food while serving
