It should be 5yrs. 2yrs is too small. If they don’t like it they can school abroad.

Some of you won't say anything concerning the ongoing circular because you're not a Nurse. Quite understandable but your child, wife, sister, cousin, brother, or one of your family is a Nurse 1 Like |

Start with the minister of education whose kids school abroad, minister of health, the president and others who don't even know what the Nigeria hospitals look like, Chief medical tourist. One does not affect the other...we can discuss improving internship so it wont be bone breaking...we definitely need more health workers but you cant have a country without needed healthcare workers. That is putting more extreme pressures on the workers in the country too...creating more bone breaking problems. Its 2 years not 5 years or 10 years. How many years is medical school in the US...4yrs and you start working in the clinic by Year 3...then residency 3 - 5 yrs...on top the education is not subsidized. Lifebender: |

Lol we already know those without a brain. You can make your point without speaking from your ass. Residency is 3 - 5 yrs...Before you can even get employed as a Nurse in sane countries, you might need to have some experiences at the CNA, LPN level and you will also do clinicals. We know some of you with local contents and local brains...I don't plan to exchange insult with you. THUNDER4real: |

MasterTeeUSA: You guys don't get it. Nigeria is not short of health practitioners. They cannot accommodate everybody. When was the last time Nigeria govt employed doctors and nurses? Do you know the number of times health practitioners have protested for being understaffed?Yet nothing has been done. Check the figures that graduate annually,to the figures that was employed and to the figures that travelled out.Their you'll have your answers. Their are unemployed doctors and nurses, and they are the ones leaving. And those who want better life. But Nigeria is not short of health practitioners. 1 Like |

So your stat is better than those that compare number of health practitioners to the population or per thousands of people. Getting them gainful employed should not be the responsibility of the Govt alone. I actually think the Govt should minimize its print in healthcare and privatize different sections of public hospitals, subsidize the poor so they can afford insurance, and private expansion of the health care industries. That will also reduce the healthcare's exposure to strikes and wage issues. Regulations though is important to guide against abuse of health care workers and small unions should be allowed to negotiate wages and salaries commensurate with experience. Lifebender: |

IMASTEX: Thats why anyone that wish to work as a doctor or nurse abroad, should go and school dere. Simple. I don't gv a Bleep about the evil apc and the President but Nigeria nd those still living in it. If the govt open door for all Doctors nd nurses to leave d country, who will treat those that can't afford to go abroad? |

wethebest:At bolded, this is why the people should place a demand on the government to be more responsible. Rather than waiting for the professionals to keep making sacrifices like every citizens are already doing. Many of those leaving aren't really comfortable with the decision but are compared to due to the situation on ground. Poor welfare, zero security, infrastructure, uncertain economy/future, etc to live a meaningful life as humans. Emigration is part of human and people will always keep moving for different reasons. Who says that Nigeria trained healthcare professionals must be the one to do the job? Why are foreigners relocating to certain destination to render services? What are those people doing right? That Nigeria can't do to also attract the best hands from across the globe? You keep mentioning subsidized school? What is the standard of the school? The one that subject doctors to even be able to practice abroad? What will you say about the IT and other professions leaving in droves? We aren't ready to focus on the root cause yet. |

MasterTeeUSA: WHO standard says 1 nurse to 5 patients. Now lemme ask even in UK with a well developed healthcare system, they still don't have 1:5. That is not on healthcare practitioners, that's in the government. Now you need nurses to stay back and help out, how? With which job? Do you know UK is constantly recruiting? The last time OAUTHC did recruitment was in 2022.And guess what,it was a shoddy one. They recruited 180 nurses and 90 doctors even with the mass exodus of healthcare practitioners.Till date, those people are yet to be paid. FMC Abeokuta did their own recruitment this year after so many protest of being short staffed.Guess what, they recruited so little. Lemme ask you sir,why do you think Nigeria politicians do not patronise Nigeria hospitals? You think we are not good? It's because they didn't invest in the sector and they are not ready to. How then do you expect healthcare practitioners to stick with a dying sector? What about those without jobs. Cos I can tell you sir there are doctors and nurses in Nigeria without jobs. What they do is locum job to keep body and soul together. And then you still expect them to stick back when their is no job for them, the environment is nit conducive, the pay is bad and then you still work like a slave for peanuts. No sir, even my enemy deserves better. |

Honestly, these evil people have killed Nigeria dead pátápátá porogodo. They always find a demon to head the nursing council to oppress nurses. Unfortunately, medical doctors who themselves are victims of oppression are willing enablers. When politicians need good health service, they fly abroad; when doctors need good life, they fly abroad, and when nurses desire better living, they flee abroad. It is mow funny that medical doctors and their political leaders have conspired to stop nurses flight abriad while not ready to make life better for them here. Nurses, CONSIDER YOUR REGISTRATION ELSEWHERE. If you are yet to get your degrees or diplomas, just make sure you prepare for qualifying exams of some other countries far or near as you study for your degrees or diplomas so that you get ed somewhere else and flee the sinking ship. You will never need NMCN again. 1 Like |
