You won't treat your nurses well, you won't still want them to travel out for greener pastures. Is that not witchcrafty? The betrayal Faruk of a person must have collected money from the government to frustrate his colleagues. Who makes such senseless decisions as these?
The nurses should start a nationwide protests immediately

Some of their points are valid.

However, This Point Below Is There Full Responsibility:

" Welfare for Nurses: We should have a welfare or committee responsible for making sure no nurse is victimized or abused. In a situation of assault as we have seen in many cases there should be a body speaking on behalf of the nurse. There should be a body where a nurse can report to get justice."

The day u chose to be a nurse or doctor, u took the same oath security personnels took to save lives in sweet and worse condition. No leave, no transfer. If to work as doctor and nurse abroad dey hungry u, Go sch dere and remain dere. U can't b getting cheap medical certification frm a country u re not willing to serve.
you are very senseless, these doctors and nurses you mentioned paid their way through school. They did not take oath as security personnels. If the government wants to keep them they should train them the way they train security personnels by providing their school fees and everything they need to become doctors and nurses.

This is nothing but slavery....if the government need to retain its health workers, they should do what others do and not force people to stay back with hash policy.

Still travel if you have the opportunity, forget all these rules that doesn't apply to the elites

So how can you work or get a job overseas when you are not verified as expected? Or you have never left your village?
Angelfrost(m): 5:15pm On Feb 08, 2024
It's what it is...!

The government is trying hard (maybe too hard) to force healthcare professionals to stay back in the nation, even though no real effort is being made to improve their working and living conditions.

Eligible applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience from the date of issuance of permanent practicing licence. Any application with provisional licence shall be rejected outrightly.

It should be 5 years minimum.

Let them travel abroad for studies and start working after graduation.
I can see you reason from your anus. The way you wish people to stay in a bad condition, may you stay in a bad condition in your career. Fvktard.

Still travel?!!

Well, that's if you don't intend to continue your professional career there, or you wish to start afresh by undergoing an undergraduate program for 4 years, then get licensed.

Normally, it isn't even right for someone without work experience to just travel and start working... No serious nation will accept or allow that.

They should stop schooling in Nigeria. You wanna be a nurse or doctor, go school abroad and be working there, Simple. Lets see how many can afford the fees studying anything that has to do with medicine abroad. Govt subsidize these courses so u can serve ur country.

The only way to keep Health workers encouraged to work in that country is better remunerations, not all these stringent policies.

It is pure slavery to keep a medical professional where he does not want to work.

No wonder the MLSCN council is asking for data on practising Medical Scientists all over the country.

Thank God I left to Australia when I did.

No country trains its workers and allow them to japa without serving...even in Israel you need to serve in the military. Putting conditions for people to show their skills and their competence before japaing...helps everyone including those they will be treating abroad. Imagine, you are in UK and someone from Nigeria that has never practiced Nursing is treating you after license verification with zero experience.

My only ask is that ...it should be easy for people to train in hospitals without knowing people, and they should be able to serve without difficulties for those 2 years.

These rules will discourage the study of nursing and midwifery in Nigeria.
These conditions will encourage slavery in the employment of nurses and midwives.

You are very stupid with your comparison, comparing a course studied with military. Compare NYSC with compulsory military service of other countries. With these your statements, your reasoning is very poor. Nigeria govt is not training these workers in school, some attended private schools. This makes your comparison and statements foolish

Then what about the mandatory 1year youth service?
If you're going by experience, are you aware medical personnel go for 1year internship program which is rigorous, bone breaking?
