Finally, some good news! Every state should have an independent power generation, transmission and distribution company.

If you don't have gas, try hydroelectricity. Like Fashola once said, generating power shouldn't be some rocket science. grin

Now, 9 out of the 17 LGAs in Abia will have guaranteed power supply. I hope they can afford to pay though. Power is not cheap.
Rivers state had about 3 gas turbine which was a brainchild of Peter odili, Rotimi Amaechi sold the turbines to Sahara Energy for $400m without remitting the cash to state coffers

Governor Otti the only performing Governor currently in the whole wide Nigeria......Eluuupe leads by example this is exactly what Nigeria and Nigerians lose may God never forsake us
this is a private project spearheaded by Barth Nnaji, it has nothing to do with otti, this project has been in works since GEJs tenure

The plant is already working, but at below capacity. I think they have sorted their gas problems and are now set to operate at FULL capacity - 24/7 power supply. Aba is no longer on the national grid. The city now generates, transmits, and distributes it power.

Our Yoruba brothers should learn how to develop their cities.

Your points were valid until your last statement. Tribalism remains a significant issue in Nigeria, often between Yoruba and Igbo, with less involvement from Hausa/Fulani. Nairaland seems to foster division instead of unity, and if a civil war were to occur in Nigeria (God forbid), it might well begin here on Nairaland.

Yoruba man develop your towns and stop writing long epistles.

It's an advice not tribalism

Can we please hit the street protesting for Tinibu to resign... People are suffering... Inflation rate is way over 300%... Exchange rate is making the poor not able to buy imported goods... Why is fuel price still up after almost a year after subsidy was removed... They are looting the money that would have been used to subsidize the price of gas.... WE NEED REVOLUTION... NIGERIANS ARE SUFFERING

We in Aba has suffered to the anywhere we see light even if generator we rejoice
I swear bro!
But these are basic amenities one will experience perfectly at least in the neighbouring countries, even in their rural areas.
Imagine light will be returned after straight 2 or 3 days of non-supply then people will be rejoicing like say Jesus Christ has come angry
I hope things will change

Solar is good but not every Nigerian can afford it at the moment, let us all learn how to think as group for betterment of all of us

Aba power is different from geometric. Aba power is the distribution arm, geometric is the generating arm. Geometric is not generating any power. Aba power get its supply from TCN.

Last year, geometric said it will start generating but they didn't fulfill it. That's why I said they should stop announcing plans. Let them generate the power first before announcement.

Okay i was thinking they where generating their own power and what could be the cause of the delay because i know someone that was part of the construction team and he said the first phase was ready. I hope is not gas fees issue sad

God bless Geometric Power Limited
God bless NNPCL.
This is a very big breakthrough for Nigeria on how to devolve Electricity from the Almighty Centralized Power Structure we have to the state Government and independent Power Producers.
Geometric and Abia state have taken the lead in this Noble power generation and distribution and I hope other State and Local Government emulate this wonderful project.
Nigerians have been scammed by all these useless So called Distribution companies and I'm in total of anything that will allow individual states and local government to generate and distribute Electricity.
I expect all other states to take the initiative and start building their own independent Power companies, state Governors must understand there's big correlation between Electricity and Development.
Where there is enough Electricity in any state, there will be massive production of goods and this will eventually lead to a drop in unemployment of young people in any state.
I really give kudos to Geometric Power Limited for this massive breakthrough, this is the kind of news we need to start hearing from other states in Nigeria.
Nothing but the truth🙌

Commissioning a power plant that's wholly dependent on gas in this 21st century? Nigeria is a big joker. Why do we keep getting everything wrong?

Otti is just commissioning, get your facts right.

Building such magnificent project does not take just one year, Otti has not stayed up to a year
