Hi guys, a friend submitted her study permit application in November and included an upfront medical result. He just got a message from IRCC requesting medicals. Does he need another medical since the initial medical was carried out in October last year and should still be valid?

There is no need to do another medical. Your friend can send the same Medical Information Sheet to IRCC.

People do.

Has anyone applied for a study visa with their family (spouse and children) and received approval? I know it's advisable to apply alone and have the family you later. I just want to know if people do get approval at all.

While you wait for the GCMS note, you should know that providing proof of sale of property or investment certificate, if that was what you used, is not always sufficient. Sometimes, the VO probes the source of the sold assets, especially when you are a low-income earner, and it can take ages to own such assets. So, the VO might stretch the provenance of funds to ascertain the availability
Imoegwu84:
I was served a second breakfast this evening. The only reason for the refusal is insufficient funds. I had over 30m in my with lump sum well explained with documents. I have requested for my GCMS note. It's really heartbreaking and discouraging.

Thanks @Justmellow.
You didn't understand the question asked exactly. You may kindly peruse again.
I have two sets of children here. The first set are 2 young kids, and have already secured SP with mom. No issues with this at all. The second set are equally 2 (10yrs and 12yrs), and are with me in Nigeria. The plan is to arrange for the 10yrs mom later on SP. So, I'm considering VV for the 10yrs initially, then convert to SP while in Canada. For myself and the 12yrs, we are OK with VV. Hope you understand the contemplation here?
Hello Heffalump,
Consider SP instead. Saves time and energy.
Best of Luck!

Hello Shupy,
It is very possible if the required funds, home ties, and general requirements can be met.

Hello Guys,
You don't get to read this quite often here, nevertheless, you may want to read this.
For those who have gotten their PPR, congrats to y'all. For those who are yet to receive their PPR, you will get it.
When coming to Canada, please get your shit together at the point of entry. Depending on the immigration officer that you will be meeting, they may be nice to you, while others will probably not be. Whatever tone they take with you, remain calm and answer to the best of your knowledge.
Please know the answers to simple questions, such as "What course are you studying?", "What is the name of your school?", "What's the duration of your course of study?", "When will you graduate (month and year)?", "where will you stay (address)?" - They may decide to call your should you say you will be staying with a friend - If you said Airbnb, please keep your receipt ready. If you did GIC, I'd suggest you log onto their Portal with your phone and have access to your transactions - be ready to show it.
As a JJC who is coming to Canada for the first time, please come with enough food items. Most airlines offer 23 x 2kg, so I'd suggest you have your clothing in one 23kg and food items in the other 23kg. No go pack cloth full everywhere, unless, of course, you carry better bar de come, otherwise na hunger go first kee u b4 cold and rent go use u play monkey post. Groceries cost o. Research abt Canada outlet (electric socket), if you ft get the appropriate adapter for Naija, I mean the one wey go match ur phone/laptop charger, carry am de come, e go save u a few dollars and waka around.
As per accommodations, you do not need to get here first before before looking for a place to stay. You can start the arrangements from Naija. I find kijiji dot com more secure. But Facebook is even cheaper but dem get plenty scammers. You can sublet a room from a student who is going for a co-op (internship) and may want to lease their room for a period of 4 to 8 months. Subletting is generally cheap, although some of them do inflate the prices of those rooms, but as naija pikin, always negotiate! If you are using Facebook posts to look for accommodations, do not pay until you arrive in Canada, and with your two legs and eyes, see the room. Please don't fall for a housing scam! If you are in doubt, always ask questions.
After getting your study permit at the Airport, ask a security person or a worker where you can get your Social Insurance Number (SIN). to carry your luggage afterward.
Get a USD/CAD prepaid card from your bank in Naija, deposit some funds into it, and come with it. Or you can buy CAD from Aboki and come with it ( to check for fakes). No go carry USD enter here and come de change am to CAD for airport, their exchange rate is horrible.
Lyft (a rider app) is generally cheap (as compared to others) in my experience, you can the app and book a ride to pick you up from the airport. There are also Uber and Airport Taxis, but I find them quite expensive.
The Nigerian community here is pretty much not as strong as our Indian brothers, but you will get to meet Nigerians who are quite good (and I don't mean carrying your burden or catering to your needs). You will also get to meet those who are aloof. If you meet a naija brethren here on the first day, you may think they are "feeling too big" but don't worry, you guys may soon become buddies. Always reach out, you just never can tell.
And don't worry, Nigerians de small for this country. Asians de run the streets, so no allow anybody tell you say pple dn full here, na lie, there's enough space for all of us. Depending on the Province wey u de enter, student work ft hard to get, especially in Ontario, you go suffer small oo, na y I de say, come with food (and money for rent, even if it for a few months b4 you find something doing) otherwise you might get discouraged, which may even lead to depression/break down.
, do not take your eyes off the price!
I wish us success! And I wish us well!
God bless you for these wonderful piece of information you just gave out.

Please between course based or thesis based masters which is better for Electrical Engineering.
It depends on what you want.
Thesis based is geared towards research incase you want to pursue a PhD. Most Canadian universities offer funding so it's usually less expensive to pursue. However, it's more challenging to get into.
On the other hand, course based is geared towards working in the industry. Less competitive getting into but also incredibly expensive

Hello house, thanks for the wealth of knowledge shared here as always. I need your advice on my younger sisters application.
Husband is a student (1 year course) at Conestoga, resumed this Jan and he put her in his application when he applied. Now we want to apply for her.
She’s a ed nurse working at a federal govt hospital here and earns 120k. She has 5M in her as I type (payment for rent of my property in Lagos as I just relocated to in Canada with my family too and wife is the student)
I intend to her with additional 3M so she can have 8M total to show..
- should I send directly to her and do gift deed or send to my dad and he sends to her as from parents ?
- want suggestions on if visitor visa or SOWP is our best bet.
- how much proof of fund will she need to satisfactorily pull the application through?
Thank you all as I anticipate anyone sharing thier view on the subject matter.

Thank you so much for this brother, I really needed this. Especially those questions that Immigration may ask at the POE. Nobody has said anything about those even on Youtube videos that I watch.
I have a few questions if you don't mind.
1. How do we show proof of funds at the POE? Can I pay USD into my DOM and show them there? Or print bank statements and bring along with me? My brother is my sponsor and I used his for the POF for my Visa.
2. Should I open a GIC instead and also use that as POF at POE?
