President Bola Tinubu has said the illegal miners who caused the explosion in Ibadan, Oyo State, must be brought to book.

Daily Trust reports that after the incident, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo blamed it on illegal miners who stored explosive devices in one of the buildings in the Bodija area of Ibadan.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, quoted his principal as saying: “It is worrisome that the cause of the blast is being attributed to the activities of illegal miners. Those behind the inexcusable and reckless behaviour that has created the conditions for the sad incident to occur must be fished out and punished.”

Tinubu, while expressing sadness over the devastating explosion, commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State.

The president called on all concerned agencies of government to unravel the circumstances that led to the tragedy with alacrity.

President Tinubu directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Oyo State Government to offer immediate and comprehensive relief to the victims.

Medicine after death, there are many illegal activities going on in the country with the active connivance of government regulatory agencies.

All government regulatory agencies should be restructured and put on their toes to do their primary assignment.

Thousands of unregulated activities are going on in the country with the regulatory agencies collecting bribes.

No wonder Tinubu did not see anything wrong in Buhari's 8 years in office

All these non-nigerians claiming hausa, they are just too many all over the places. That's not the issue though, the issue is that we have given them too much space to do as they like. Majority of them dont even have any genuine papers.
No doubt, we Nigerians are the architect of our own misfortunes

Oga speak for yourself, is it the citizens that should be checking the papers of foreigners, then why do we immigration service?

You guys always try to defend the government failures because you the leaders currently there, please just speak for yourself and don't generalize for Nigerians abeg

Are the immigration officers not Nigerians?
The landlords renting out their buildings to foreigners they know little or nothing about what they do for living, are they not Nigerians?
The people within their immediate community, some of which are aware of their nefarious activities, are they not Nigerians?

@least, we can be rest assured we have a president unlike the effigy that just left, that would always express shock after months of the incident. The present and the past president have one thing in common tho which is FAILURE despite the fact that the present is in touch with present reality.

Get the point clear, they are not mining in Bodija, but they store the explosive in their house they leave in Bodija with them, According to the eye withness that saw them running away from the house with their children and wives before the blast, they only go to the site in the morning and come back home in the evening, only God knows the actual site of the mining.

It's just this morning Tinubu and Makinde realised that there are illegal miners in Nigeria.

Maybe it's because the minister of solid minerals is a journalist
