I personally don't place importance on accent. The most important thing is to be audible like football commentators.

Also, when you see a White Man speak our local languages, you will realize that it is very difficult to speak languages exactly like the natives

Perfect?!!... I heard absolutely nothing perfect in her spoken English.

I only heard a certain accent out of several accents used by native and good English speakers around the world including Africa.

She's not even as fluent (no such thing as Perfect) as Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda Adichie, Barrack Obama, and those that taught me English in primary and secondary school.

So, where is the wow factor here?!! Abi low self-esteem dey worry una?! tongue

Polygamy isn't just a sin in the conventional sense, it is also a pretty stupid idea that is not workable.

Opportuneke:
Somehow funny 😁

Actually English language doesn’t belong to us and I see no reason why we can’t normalize speaking our indigenous languages like Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, Benin, efik, ibibio and the host of others.🧐

The colonial masters really did a number on us. ☹️

The colonised everything 🤔

For instance, they came and told us that Polygamy is sin while forcing their religion on us and condemning and traditional way of worship.🥺

Now the same set of people have legalized Gay and Lesbian marriages and told us they are acceptable ☹️

Honestly speaking, They really worked on us.🧐

Not surprised atal. She obviously had a good education but Nigeria as usual happened to her. If only you know how many Uber drivers and commercial bus drivers that are educated to the teeth, this woman's speech in this video wouldn't surprise you at all

Define "Good education".

My uncles and grannies who stopped at Standard 6 of those days spoke and wrote better English.

A great grasp of or fluency in English doesn't qualify anyone to be called educated, as education has a far broader and reaching definition.

You are describing yourself

when you think foreign accent is a thing of pride or a subject to consume your discussions and aspirations, have already lost the race before it started. For example, many Nigerian artistes tried to imitate foreigners before the advent of Afrobeat, they all flopped!!! it is only when Nigerian artistes started to be themselves and sing in their unique African way that the world embraced them. You cannot be more oyinbo than the oyinbo man, you have nothing to offer if what you are selling is not authentic but a copy. So be yourself, be proud of yourself, your accent, your culture and your heritage, stop giving yourselves foreign names or speaking in fake foreign accents or projecting foreign as superior, you are subconsciously telling yourself that you and your own are inferior and not good enough. if you reject yourself, others will reject you.

there is no Nigerian artiste who has made in on the international stage with a foreign accent.... that. Sunny Ade, Fela etc all sang in their Nigerian accents and projected their Nigerianness. And before you mention Sade Adu and the likes of SEAL, they were all raised abroad and are only Nigerian in name.

Not true!

It is a survival instinct, some people had to paid good money to learn that accent after been rejected in many interviews especially when you job or career is in a crowded field.

However for exceptional professionals in in-demand careers with fewer competition the employer or interviewer are usually forced to strain their ears to understand your foreign accent.

Also some people do it unintentionally, a Warri boy who speaks English very very fast with Warri accent, usually would adjust their accent and speed if e.g. they find themselves in Sokoto and have to live there, integrate with the Society there and make a living there.

It’s really workable sir in the actual sense.✍🏻

If I may sir, what is the ratio of male children compared to the female kids?

We will realize there’s a very wide margin and the only way we can bridge this is through polygamy but THE MAN MUST HAVE THE FINANCIAL CAPACITY TO O EMBARK ON SUCH JOURNEY

I will like to bring to your awareness that colonialism brought this to us in other to slow down our population.🙌🏻

Population is the strength of a nation 👌🏻
They know that on the long run we will eventually become powerful as they are if we are not put in check.

If I may sir, what is the benefit of LGBTQ in Our society? 🧐
Now you have lots of population what's the benefit.

In this Nigeria? The problem with an inferiority complex is most who have one dont even know they it. Your problem is you are not qualified for the job. if you are good you are good, focus on being the best in your field and the world will embrace you.

What you have described is like a beautiful woman who has slept around and complains she cant find a husband because she is beautiful. No the problem is you have slept around and no one wants to marry you so you conveniently blame your beauty and say it intimidates men. The reason you cant get a job in Nigeria has nothing to do with your accent!!

I never meant that the entirety of good education funneled down to speaking grammer or accent. Proper fluency in
English is just one of the ripple effects of good education. Learn not to blow things out of proportion. No be every comment wey no sit well with you you must attack. Shill abeg. Na new year biko

Perpahs
You should tell us how a Polygamous is sin...

You can conviniently accept and see Gay/lesbian as nothing bad

If it does not work for you it will be stupid ideas

As long as you put a wife at home and still poses different women outside your marriage..
And that is the definition of faithful to your wife

You are not making sense. I can see that you are home-based all through.

It is not about "forming", but pronouncing your words. You can't understand it because the person pronouncing wrongly doesn't even know. That lady might be born in the UK, or she went for accent reduction classes...and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

You are just hiding under the nonsense you put up here because of your inferiority complex. Many hurdles to cross... sounds and tone...where to stress...silent letters also.

Music and entertainment is different from speaking English. Do not mix it up.

Back to speaking clearly....there are sounds each tribe cannot pronounce well that we need to try to get rid of. You want to speak English...speak it. Hausa cannot pronounce F clearly...they substitute it with v. This is why Buhari says Viver when he wants to say Fever. Almost all Nigerians cannot pronounce "th"...thats why even ex-Pre Jonathan says "tank", instead of "thank". Most Yoruba people cannot pronounce "h" very well... it's why they say "ouse" instead of "house". You cannot speak like this and say you speak clearly.

Good luck!
