Mindlog:Anyone who can build that can spend extra 20 million to install solar Those facilities would cost minimum of 500 million So you see my point what exactly and what exactly do you think the light bill for such facility would be? 1 Like |

jmoore:Are you saying it's cheaper to run generator than 24/7 NEPA supply? 4 litres of fuel is #2600 now. It won't last for about 6 hours if you use it in a very GOOD Tiger generator, a 650w rated generator. So, for every 24 hours, you'll need to spend #10400, that is over #100k in just ten days. So, spending 100k in 10 days for a 650 watt generator is cheaper? You need help 2 Likes |

MEEVEET:You mean it'll cost 500 million to build a cold room? Tinubu enters into power and suddenly, Nigeria doesn't need 24/7 power to grow economically. BATstards are funny creatures. πππ |

MEEVEET: You can have a factory and still be ignorant. We are talking of generators, not factories. Every tenant in our house have a generator. If there is power supply from NEPA, everyone turn off their gen. A hotel is besides us. They also turn off their gen when NEPA is on. This is not for debate. NEPA is cheaper than GEN. 1 Like |

IamAtikulate:Because numbers don't lie Except the national grid is highly subsidized it makes no sense Even abroad most factory run on private generators all the need is access to gas Plus using national grid you pay for idle time in fact if we have electricity 50% of the bill would be idle time Numbers don't like look at the numbers before you talk |

MEEVEET: I was in Nigeria 2014 for close to 7 months and I spent close to 10 thousand Naira every day to power my generator because I canβt stay in heat and I only off it in the midnight which means I spent close to 300 thousand Naira per month around December a friend agreed to offer me Electricity connection because thereβs a problem with our transformer and after a month ed then he came with a surprised bill of less than 5 thousand Naira. Precise the power was constant. this happened in my town in Enugu. makes no sense comparing both of them. |

cooltola: The problem with power supply is that power is subsidised This means that DISCOS and GENCOS are forced to charge below the actual market price of power, and are not allowed to increase prices, even if the price of gas goes up. Meanwhile, government pays them a subsidy that in principle covers for the resulting loss, yet in practice, because of rising cost of gas, and rising inflation, as well as rising maintenance costs, does not adequatley cover for the reuslting loss. We have good GSM services (yes, not the best, but knowing what it was some 20 years ago, when you could not call an MTN like with a Econet line at one point...which is why Nigerians started having dual sim cards)....because GSM companies are allowed to set their prices as they like. Initially sky high, prices went down from 2004/5...because competition. You want power, let the government deregulate the sector. But since most Nigerians are poor, deregulation would be a burden. So subsides continues, and price control continues, meaning that the sector cannot make improvements at all. 1 Like |
