The Court of Appeal in Abuja has finally cleared the coast for former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva to participate in this Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State.https://.ng/2023/11/10/again-appeal-court-dismisses-suit-seeking-timipre-sylvas-exclusion-from-bayelsa-guber-poll/ 4 Likes 1 Share |

I don't think Timipre Sylva has the momentum required to defeat Gov. Diri. If it were David Lyon, I have some hope. Unlike most states, Bayelsa with its small population, landmass and huge income, there no reason the state should be suffering. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Bayelsa State has been governed by wicked, corrupt, and short-sighted Governors since 1999! How could Nigeria's smallest state, with only eight-8- local governments, and with huge allocations (FAAC, 13% derivation, NDDC, Amnesty Programme, Special Indigene Scholarships, etc, etc) still be so abysmally poor? Driving through Yenagoa and other towns, in Bayelsa State, one could evidently see that politicians have embezzled most of these funds for 24 unbroken years. It is a pity!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

DTaj: A mystery that I'm still yet to understand tbh... that state should be swimming in milk and honey. What happens to all their money? Because I don't wanna believe that only one governor loots it all. That's too much money even for 10 men. What happens to the money ![]() |

Bayelsa is a small state with lots of water and islands. I pray the best candidate wins! Them too surfer Sylva! |

The state is poor bcoz they don't produce anything, you can't create job when you don't produce . They natural resources (oil and gas) there are controlled by the FG. For the State to improve , govt have to invest heavily on mechanized agriculture, tourism, attract foreign investors with zero tax for 5 yrs and build a seaport. Encourage and attract international biz men with incentives to use their port . Moving goods from Bayelsa to onitsha or Aba is shorter than Lagos 3 Likes |

Almost all the money derived from oil is being shared in Niger Delta! I once boarded a bus to Oshodi in Lagos and I noticed the conductor was on phone making some conversation as to how his own share of the oil money will be shared among his family! Ordinary conductor for Lagos collected 150k oil money and that was about three years ago! How much the elders go collect? |

netpro: Except that the state is inside Nigeria. The only guarantee for such a small state with large income to still suffer is being inside Nigeria and being led by Nigerian politicians |

UnwillingColony: This is a very pathetic sense of reasoning. So because a student is from a particular state, he has no shot at success? Did Nigeria collect all the allocations they got or force them to embezzle it? Stop giving foools excuses to continue their idiotic behaviours. 1 Like |
