Greetings everyone, i just started learning website design some weeks ago, i started with HTML i am nw dealing with java, my aim is to practice for 5 good years after become so sophisticated in programming i will now look for a remote job or even try relocating even though i have no university degree lol well thats just my plan anyway. back to topic but some people are telling me that i cant be a good programmer if i am nt good in maths pls how true is this?

Just be specific, study the language of your tech career. The question to you is Do you want to become a web developer or Android developer?

If you studied CS you will do maths, very sure.

But for general programming paradigm you don't need maths except you are aiming to become a game Dev cos in gaming programming you will deal with coordinates points a lot.

Also, some aspects of Algorithm involve maths especially Algorithms Analysis.

If your aim is to become Front End Dev you might not come across maths except in CSS where you will be using some numbers

Don't mind me. What do I even know?🤣🤑💰🤑💰

for me i dont really think i am interested in the game part but i want to be building android apps for example something like Opay e.t.c.

If there are some topics in mathematics that one really need to know in order to be good in mobile app development then i would like to know them so that i can focus and learn them, cos i think i still have time
i am 19years

Opay has lots of backend codes. What you see on that app is just API consumption. The real job is on the backend of that app which is either written in Java or C#.

To learn Android development just pick up Kotlin. Omo, I when I used to build android apps 6 years ago, it was in Java then. Omo, AsyncTask was popular then I don't think it is being used now.

After doing some research i found out that mobile app dev. is a bit more complicated than web dev. but are still a hot cake in the job market? i thnk i will finally settle with web app, but my question is; is it lucrative? i know is not about money but i want to dedicate 4years to ths thing cos its gonna be my lifetime career so i want something awesome, and if you are on the web dev. part pls can you list the languages to learn in order to be a well grounded ?

Every tech field is lucrative if someone is serious about it and you have the available resources to scale through. Anyway, I am into native Android development using KOTLIN. I don't know much about web development.
Yeah! If you say mobile development it complicated I agree it is broad compare to web development.

Not true but if you wanna be ahead of your peers

Do maths

Go deep into maths I'm talking Ackerman theory , numbers with letters , discrete math etc.

Dive into x86 64 ASM and C

Android development is wide, broad, complex, complicated and well advance. The reason behind why some devs ran away from it to Flutter development using DART. They say it is easy to develop App faster than going native.
However, all thanks to Google for making Android development to look like that. No where is easy in tech oooo
You are funny! What does math need to do learning Kotlin?

Guys is not hard to learn when you build things with it..

Even if you want to learn maths as a dev, it won’t be that hard, cos you can easl relate it to something practical..

As for learning for five years and that remote job thing, it’s just a cheapened trap..

You can build your own apps too…

Organize seminars..

Write and make videos..

In the next five years what ever you learn today will become either saturated or irrelevant..

Be wise..

Learn to build real life apps not getting a remote job..

You can sell themes and soft wares too..

I have some on theme forest and co..

Unless you want to be a web developer, maths is extremely necessary.
Without maths, you would have limitations to the android app you create. For example, you cannot be able to build a functional scientific calculator app if you don't know how to convert btw degrees and radians.
You'd have trouble calculating the size of widgets in the app in relation to the screen size.

Someone might give you a job to create an app that requires heavy calculation. Like calculator apps, simple games, even apps that require operations on time.

For example, requesting for the time in python language may give you something like 16945826134516.642. That value is how many seconds has ed since Jan. 1 1970. You have to divide and reason well until you get how many years and months and hours and minutes that is taking leap years and other factors into consideration. That is maths.

You can start without Maths but you'll have to constantly check google when you have any problems related with maths. With time, you'd start learning.

For android app development, use AIDE or Sketchware on android phone. Android studio on computer.
Sketchware does not use much coding but you have limits in deg the app. Use Aide if you understand the coding well.

If you don't know maths, start programming anyway. For each problem you solve using google or chatgpt, you are learning a new thing until you do not need to check google for simple errors or confusion again

I don't like web deg but I have to learn it before I can get to the backend which is more of programming and that is what I like.

But for now, I'm trying to use Python to create Artificial intelligence.
If I succeed, I may then integrate it into a game with human like characters.

Imagine all the characters in GTA game were controlled by Ai and giving a particular role to play.

It would have been super super fun!

Interesting conversation, I completed the foundation of Java and then moved to Kotlin (my tutor insisted I get the foundation of OOP with Java before moving to Kotlin). I am studying Kotlin for Android development

Please senior guys advise the young Novice on how tough it's going to get!!

Oh and yes, I was made to take maths
1. Algebra
2. Set and Set Operations
3. Statistics and probability
4. Linear equation
5. Matrix and eigendecomposition

Statistics and matrices almost ruined my life and I honestly did not know why I needed them. I wont wish them on anyone🤣

Note this statement:

If you're learning programming with the aim of making money from it, then learn something super-complex, something that an AI won't be able to do in the next few years... Learn backend languages, learn Android/iOS app development.

If not, the rise of AI will render your years of study useless.

Wow this is deep, i think i have to work really hard and achieve what i want, instead of going for juicy easy stuff and later settle for less, cos of ur recommendation i believe u are in to ths stuff can u list the programming languages that can make one outstanding in the nxt few years? i am ready to fight them

Depends of the persons skill set, experience, creativity and ability to be among the first makers of trending Apps..

Above is is marketing skills…

Their are many unexplored ways of making money in tech..

Let me give an advice nobody will give you..

Make a videos that document your learning journey, building of projects, etc while you are learning and them on various sites..

It’s will enable you grow bigger..

You need maths to develop algoirthm. Without having a sound mathematical skills for developing formulars to process a specific task continuously you won't be able to develop logic to process real problems.
