Update:

Tracker finally updated September 19 with his visa number and expiry date!

I find this interesting because for most that reported here, it’s the visa details that is first updated on the tracker- sometimes months before they receive BVL and PPR

December 27th 2022- Application Submitted
January 12th- Biometrics
April 27th- "additional information required"- A completed IMM 5546 (Details of Military Service). They do this for anyone who has been in the military. we filled and submitted the documents immediately
June 21- "We are reviewing the additional information"
September 13- "Background check completed" on tracker! nothing new on the portal
September 18- BVL and PPR (same time).
Tracker has not been updated

Documents submitted
We did not submit any elaborate documents with his application. No bank statements or landed properties etc. The only thing from his end was his port data page! nothing else.
Just a letter from me (his child), my birth certificate showing he is my father, my marriage certificate that he signed as a witness, proof of my status in canada, my bank statement- I did not include my husband's statement or his employment details! It was a very "light" application

This was similar to how I applied for my sister last year (I shared this here last year)- no bank statements from her etc.

Just thought to share!

The details of military service was not easy to do at all and there was very limited information about it on nairaland. They wanted details of every unit my father worked in through out his military career, including names of his commanding officer etc at each rank. We filled it to the best of our knowledge and submitted it to them.

For anyone who will be doing this in future, note that there are certain people who, according to ircc are deemed inissible to Canada.

You could be found inissible for a number of reasons, such as:

1. security reasons, including espionage, subversion (attempts to overthrow a government, etc.), violence or terrorism, hip in an organization involved in any of these
2. human or international rights violations, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, being a senior official in a government engaged in gross human rights violations or subject to international sanctions

I guess that is why people with military background are really scrutinized.

Dont book or reserve anything. Just submit a good application, flight and accommodation is done after you’ve your visa.

That's a naira wema bank get an alat by wema USD card that works too with out decline..

I will advice you don't travel until you have someone that would be willing to accommodate and feed you while you do your hustle in whatever you have dceided to till you gain balance. Hotel fee and feeding are not child's play.

U guyz should use dollar card,those guy at the vfs business centres downstairs can help u guz,or look for someone with dolkar card

Just be simple with your application and do not add unnecessary documents.

5. Consent letter for my daughter. Her dad got it notarize.

That was all I submitted. She was really discouraged to apply; I encourage her to give it a try and make the application simple.

She did not show the prove of her relationship with her brother in Canada , no travel history, not a good paying job . It's just a miracle to get that visa in four days .

Guys my Agent told me that due to the housing issues in Canada, that’s why there’s delay in giving out medical requests and responding to applicants. Please how true is this? And how long would it take?
