Here we go again! I recall growing up in Ibadan in the late 80's and early 90's, we had TCTC - Trans City Transport Company. Where is that one today? If we had kept that from then till now, Ibadan would have a structure for mass transit. Now we have to start all over again. And there is no guarantee the next Governor after Makinde will keep this going.

If it remains in the hand of government, it will fail like a pack of cards. Best thing is for the government to create a company to manage the business with private sector. Let the cost of the buses and the bus stops and bus stations be on the balance sheet of the government, while the company set up 'leases' it from the government for free. That way the only thing the company will be responsible for is ensuring that the fees riders pay are sufficient to fund the operating costs - salaries of drivers, fuel and maintenance of the vehicles.
