Good morning Nairaland family. I'm sorry for Posting this here, and I seek for forgiveness from the Mods.

As I type this, I'm really very angry. My neighbor is pushing me to the wall. Now, I live in a room self-con and so is my neighbor too. We are the only tenants in this particular compound.
This guy is an electrician. In his Mid-fourties, unmarried & highly irresponsible. He doesn't get along with the entire neighbors in the neighborhood. He doesn't even pay his rents until the landlord takes him to the police station before he would pay.
Our prepaid meter is in debts of almost 500k. We have written to the NEPA to do something about it since we know nothing about the debt on the meter. Initially, we would recharge & we'll only get 50% of whatever we recharge while the other 50% will be taken by the Meter. Now, the meter takes every recharge we make without leaving any units for us to use, so we've stopped recharging until the landlord fixes the Meter. Sadly, the landlord cares less since he doesn't live with Us.
The neighbor who is an electrician now byes the meter & connects light to his room alone leaving me in darkness all night. He usually does the by at Night and wakes up early in the morning to disconnect it since our compound isn't fenced. The neighbor is a Chelsea fan as I am. We talk football together some times and I can't understand the meaning of this. I have confronted him and all he could say was, he thought I had been having light each time he does the by. He knows I don't. It's deliberate and I don't understand his reasons. This same guy would disconnect me from having light any time I'm unable to quickly contribute money with him to recharge the prepaid when we were using the prepaid. So wicked and callous.
I'm losing it and I want to take actions now. I need your advice please.
I understand it is Illegal. But I am willing to participate in the illegality until a solution is found

If nothing swift can be done by you in no distant time to offset the previous bill on the metre, and you have no potential means of getting a personal one anytime soon,

Save up for a generator, convert to a gas caburator and use only when needed.

Life no hard.

If you start learning electrical work from now before one month you must have learnt how to by and get your own light.

Going insane over stolen electricity, better not press it forward so that when he would eventually be caught, you will not arrested alongside him.

Instead of clearing that huge NEPA debt that you didn't consume, save and relocate from there.

If Electricity Distribution Company workers come with Police, they can arrest you seperately and bill you differently

In my house, my ACs , Deep freezer, Microwave and Washing machine I byed them

My neighbor living accross my gate is my friend and I never told him anything

It was when NEPA came for General inspection that they caught the two of us bying meter, he byed his whole house and didn't tell me

Oga, you are asking to someone in a crime it is not what you should quarell about. Call him aside and stylishly beg him. Let your pride down. It is possible he is expecting a bribe from you since he feels his expertise gives him an edge over you.

Thanks for your input Sir. Wire isn't the Problem here: the guy is just evil and wicked. I have called him one on one to discuss it. He claimed ignorance of it. He said he had always though I had last light anytime he does the by. When he started that by, he didn't connect me until I noticed he was always having light in his room, I confronted him and he opened up. I now begged him to connect me and he did. But after three days he disconnected me. I still met him again and he claimed he wasn't aware that I haven't been having light and promised to fix it. It's been a month now that he hasn't done anything. He is enjoying power alone. Let's be honest, if u were me, how would you feel??
