Hi all, please i need advice on applying for a visitor visa for my mum from Uk. I live and work in Uk but not a UK citizen.
Please what are the required documents needed to make the application successful. I will be the sponsor. Like I said I have other source of income such as rent and sales of Electronics which I didn't present such bank statement as I relied on the turn over of my Employer's Statement of which was in the tune of about #150,000,000 million in 6 months.

The deposits/transfers into my salary as mentioned by the VO range from like 5k to 150k and I did some explaination in regards to this deposits.

I submitted my
1.Deed Of Assignment (Property)
2.Marriage Certificate/Children Birth Certificate.
3. Consent Letter From My Wife.
4. Letter from My Legal Adviser/ Catholic Priest.
5.Letter of Invitation From the Conference Organizers.

Good afternoon. So, my advise (and I don't claim to be an expert):

1. Keep it simple - you don't need consent letter from your wife or Priest
2. Keep your "clean". No large deposits that cannot be explained easily. You absolutely need to build your . Start saving something reasonable every month. The important of this cannot be over emphasized. You need to show that you have the money to take care of yourself in the unlikely event your employer does not make funds available for your use.
3. It would be helpful if your Boss or Head, HR in your office writes a letter to explain why you are eligible to attend the conference and how much the Company will commit to sponsoring you.
4. Good to add your marriage certificate. The birth certificates of your children is not compulsory but you can add them if it makes you feel better.
5. If you have paid any fee for the conference, please add evidence of payment.
6. Ensure your travel dates indicate you will get to the UK just before the conference and leave immediately after. If you want see more of UK, indicate that you would like to sightsee for a few days and then add a few days to your itinerary as required.
7. Letter of invtiation is okay
8. Finally, explain the why - Why UK? Why not any of the other 194 Countries in the world? If you can answer that question, you will be fine.

So I want to use this opportunity to let her have a travel history. She is a pensioner and also heading a school and has got some appointments in the church that she is handling as well. I am looking at them coming over by end of November. My Dad is alive and a pensioner too. Due to circumstances, I may not be able to flash statement of but can show pay slips. She will flash her own cos he has enough funds for her stay. What advice/documents do y'all think she can submit to strengthen her application and what duration of stay do I state too. I got an email yesterday that I have an interview scheduled for today 9 a.m via Teams.
I attended the interview and no on ed the interview for over 2 hours.
I made a paid call and was told my application is still awaiting decision and an escalation has been done regarding my interview.

You're exempted from the transit visa requirement because you have a valid US visa.

Birth certificates even DNA.

Over 4 months stay and going to visit a child with ILR = no coming back. ECO does not want to be deceived. It appears her ties are more to this UK now so no need to give her visa, she will enter and apply for Adult Dependent so best to avoid now.
Then monthly income of 600k and spending 450k which means left with less than 150k which ECO even says it’s not true according to the documents you submitted.

The issue now is that they don’t trust she will come back. Go and make a project about what really her ties are to Nigeria .
Her intentions are greatly doubted. Pls dnt reapply until you can surmount this factor. Also how did you obtain your ILR?

So what would be the reason of this trip? One of the problems we create is when we fail to address intention of trip adequately.

the E.C.O didn't acknowledge your CAC document and your explanation to your other income reflecting on your . Please have Your Tax documents when next, that should assist your application because I notice you never talked about it or included it. Tax documents just simply means you are earning as stated etc that the ECO raised.

From reading the refusal letter I could immediately spot where it went wrong. Why 4 months? A person who is employed cannot be away from their job for 4 months to go on holiday even if they are self-employed.

My mum bringing my biological kids is a big reason for visa to be issued. Kids need to us asap. None of us can travel and we have a baby here who doesn't even have a port. I just read on this. Can you please advise what details should be added in the PAP letter considering the previous refusals were on financial grounds and also if i feel i haven't satisfied the conditions of refusal I shouldn't bother going further with the PAP and just focus on reapplying.


Also please with her circumstances at this point, how else do you think i can build her personal ties to Nigeria and probably more documents to provide or if possibly i can send you an email to explain my situations to you more clearly and you can help with any advice.

Yes, a specific amount can be stated. It should be enough to cover your flight, accomodation and petty expenses.

My observations:

1. Proposed duration of vacation in the UK - too long. Four months?! If she is working, how can she plan to stay in the UK for four months? This is a major red flag
2. Monthly spend - N450K. That's a lot. That means her monthly saving is about N150K.
3. Second refusal was in April. Why did she reapply so soon after? When her circumstances did not change. Another Red flag

My suggestion:

1. Sponsor your mum for vacation in another Country. Leave the UK for now.
2. After the vacation, start planning to reapply for a UK Visa in early 2025.
3. When you are ready to reapply, let us know. We will help. You will pray. God will do it

Please note that it is more difficult for self employed applicants to get a visa. The scrutiny is more intense.

You need to build your case. Start from now and spend the next 6 - 9 months building a story of your business - what you do, your company's turnover, profit, your own income etc. It is a lot of work. You will need a cover letter.

Keep your salary/personal "clean". Seperate from your business . If you can, visit another Country (preferably in Europe or North America).

If you have any specific question, let us know.
