My dad bought 40 broilers, 1 died so far, how many weeks is yours please? As for the feed we bought ours for around 11k, it last us for a week and a half .. oh before I forget, we have rabbits too, the feed from the chicken feed too though most times they eat leaves... It's fun rearing the young ones, wahala starts when they are grown and u hv to deal with their big excretion....and constant perking on you when u put your hand in their cage... Poultry farming is great to be honest.

BoldBrainz:You seem to know a lot about poultry bizz but i can tell you that my mum started this business when she was still backing me and stopped when i was in ss2 to venture into other things. she was very successful while at it. Now... -If you look well youd see a led bulb in their house. Those lamps you see there are not cheap. It cost 12k to get the both of them. The lamps were bought the evening the chicks arrived so It was a hasty decision. - ogbeni you are wrong. One drinker is not enough for 200 birds. Haba ! -you need to be calming down bros. We didn't use the black bucket for mixing the vaccine. We used the white one. - we always ventilate their house when necessary. Thank you for your advice. We learn every day 8 Likes 1 Share |

Shampoo77:Yes i know. We will be selling them of after 4 weeks. Thats why the title of my thread says brooding. |

coldzobo: The moment your newspapers or carton litter materials are replaced with wood dust and your birds moved to larger spaces, you're done with brooding. And no professional commercial poultry farmer broods for more than 10 days. That guy was right. Broilers should be ready for sale from 7 weeks. 2 Likes |

coldzobo: You should actually be the one to calm down and read. Someone asked you how long you raise broilers before they're ready for sale, and you said 3 to 4 months. And I'm letting you know again, that no commercial poultry farmer raises broilers beyond 7 to 8weeks. At that point, they should be very ready for sales. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

coldzobo: Oga, I don't know how and where you're seeing trouble in my responses. Like others, I'm following your updates and chipping in corrections where necessary, but you seem to have problems with being corrected. There's nowhere poultry brooding is done for 3 to 4 weeks. NOWHERE! Not even in the US. 1 Like |

Coldzobo your thread is very educative, interesting and inspiring! More powers to your elbow. However, I think you should be more open-minded and embrace constructive criticisms and divergent, but sensible views. Surely you and your mom cannot claim to know it all, even if you have been in the business for decades. But good job so far! ![]() 3 Likes |
