The junta leader announced a 3 year transition period last night after refusing to meet with the Abdulsalami Abubakar led delegation.
delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Saturday failed to meet the leader of Niger military junta, General Abdourahamane Tchiani.

The delegation led by former Nigerian Military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd.), was received by Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine.

Earlier in August, a team from the regional bloc ECOWAS, also led by Abubakar, left the Republic of Niger without meeting the leader of the junta which seized power in a coup or the deposed President Mohamed Bazoum.

According to BBC Hausa as monitored by Daily Trust, the meeting with the representative of Niger lasted about 90 minutes.

Earlier today, SaharaReporters reported that a delegation from ECOWAS had arrived in Niger in a last-ditch effort to peacefully resolve the standoff with the coup leaders in the country.

They should leave that country alone! Sovereignty is attained so external influence in your internal affairs can be kept at bay.

Abdulsalami Abubakar should take his wealth of leadership experience to Tinubu and advise the charlatan on proper ways of governance, since he has that much time and energy on his hands.

We're growing fed up of all this noise, considering the plethora of problems we're currently having.

ECOWAS is headded by a coup election rigger without a legimate mandate from his höme country...

Who gives audience to a certificateless drug addict who has no school certificate, no origin, no date of brth certificate, no known name, father or mother, no known early life, no known school classmates, no known occupation background...i mean who takes something like that even serious..

He should go & take, grab and run away with the coup plotters like he did in the 2023 fraud of election

You guys don’t know what is going on.

This war is not about Tinubu.

Any president in Tinubu’s shoes will be threatening war just like him.

The reason?

The 15 billion dollar trans Saharan gas pipeline linking Nigerian gas to the European market. It es through Niger!

Putin does NOT want the line completed. He wants to be the key supplier to Europe.

And he backs the Niger junta.

So Nigeria either invades or it kisses goodbye to the 15 billion dollar project for which money has already changed hands.

Nigeria’s annual income could more than double upon completion of the project.

So it is Nigeria’s interest to get rid of the junta.

This is not about Nigeria wanting to please and all this stuff you guys say.

What does do for Nigeria that will make Abuja go to war against a neighbouring country just to please them?

It makes absolutely no sense.

This foolish propaganda from your Agbado WhatsApp group will not fly. Go and rest! Nigeria has absolutely no business engaging in a military confrontation in the Niger Republic

You are lying to yourself...the benefits of the trans Sahara Pipeline will only be for the benefit of the few & the Nigerian elites...Nigerians will feel & have no benefit.. history & the Nigerian reality of politics should have taught you that...you are talking as if Nigerians will be better of it..you have quickly brought the whole Nigeria to the equatiion to seek for sympathy & as if you care & as if your corrupt government gives a fu"ck about Nigerians

This Pipeline serves no Nigerian interest but the Europeans & the corrupt Nigerian politician

Why wasting your time, all those ipob above you who commented are Obidients, same Hypocrites that cursed President Buhari for aiding Niger Islamic Republic.

All their sentiments is based on the single fact that Bola Tinubu is against the coup plotters, so they must them, even if it means cutting their blocked noses, to spite their deaf ears.

Well, now that public trust and national unity have been destroyed by the divisive politics we played whose effects have remained with us, how would Nigerians have a common goal?

When we've come to that reality, only regionalism ( or federalism if you like) will give us a sense of National progress if not outright disintegration. The cold War b/w ibos and yoruba will not do any president of either extraction any good. Only the North have seamless rule, and would always have their way, like this Niger issue. South would always antagonise each other and be clogs to their own progress.

In gathering, they shall gather but they will be scattered them says the Lord of host. I think the time is now ripe for African leaders to sit back and think of a way of leading Africans in accordance with our culture, tradition and beliefs. We are not Americans or Europeans and their ways should not be forced on Africans.

ECOWAS should simply swallow it senseless pride and appreciate the sovereignty of the nation of Niger Republic. Buhari, Babangida and Abacha all made the same statements when they planned their coups back then and ECOWAS was still as useless as it is today.

We all know this is the koko but tinubu and his people forgot that part of the bargain is making someone from South east president and releasing nnandi kanu aftersll the gas comes from South east.
My dear, this is outcome of the first meeting between buhari and the eu early last yr.
Agreement is agreement.

Tinubu finally got his way, expect something worst than militant and bokoharam from South east. Tinubu know there wil be coup.
Cos it will favour him if he strategise well.

So forget all these.
He is in this 100%.
When did he become Russian enemy all of a sudden?

I can beat my chest and say that if it was Obasanjo, they wouldn’t have treated him this way.

If Obasanjo gets involved in the negotiations, the matter would be resolved sooner than everyone would imagine. But Tinubu and even the international community would be too ashamed to approach him after they refused to align with him on the leadership of Nigeria.
