Afolavid: Thanks a lot for this. Can such a receipt be tendered to an employer for reimbursement? I know they are used to seeing hotel and airbnb receipts but not many handwritten notes from landlord? |
safex(m): 4:40pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
Afolavid: Except OP has been paying cash, bank statement extract is also a good ing document |
Afolavid: 5:04pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
Enculer2: It depends on the employer, I think they all have their T&Cs regarding reimbursement. I believe if you paid via your bank, a bank extract showing the payments combined with that would work as safex mentioned. If it's by cash, I really can't say for sure. But in my own case, I had handwritten receipts for my previous apartment and I was able to use it just like normal receipt. |
Enculer2: 5:08pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
Afolavid: Thanks a lot. The payment is via e-transfer to the landlord's . |
Afolavid: 5:12pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
Enculer2: Even better, you would be fine! Ensure you add notes that suggest it's your rent to the transfer if you've not been doing so 1 Like |

Please guys what's the best and quickest way to get into trades (plumbing, welding, etc) in Canada? Is it through apprenticeship or doing a trades course in college? |

Hello, just wanna make an inquiry and would be glad if i can get a response. So I’ll be traveling to Nigeria soon from Montreal and I’ve got a connecting flight to which people said I should be good since i will stay at the airport, but the problem lies in the return ticket which i used KLM airlines, i have a 10 hr stop over at Amsterdam Netherlands, and i heard some people said they’re not sure if i will be able to stay at the airport without having a connecting visa, anybody had similar experience and what they did? Thanks in advance

I have a fully furnished ensuite room with a smart TV (Netflix available) and working table/chair in my home/house for a short stay (Sept to Dec 2023). Kitchen and laundry will be shared. The house is within GTA and precisely in a quiet neighbourhood in Bowmanville Durham Region, Ontario. Anyone interested can reach out to me. We can accommodate for just a month if that's what works for you till you find a permanent place to settle. There are only 3 individuals in the house (a four bedroom detached house) for now (Husband, wife and mother)

NuCypher: Just a note here, it's not possible to use a student loan to make a down payment for a house. The loan is not paid to the student's , it is paid directly to the school and in batch payments. What people use for down payment is the grant. The grant depends on your course, family size and your net income from last tax year. I have a friend who got a total grant of $36k (family of 4). The $36k he got included grant from canada govt, province and school grant. His total fees was around $19k for a 2years course. 36k is enough for down payment for a 3bed town house in most of the province except ON. Also this 36k is not paid once, it's in batches across the 2years. I did a top course last year and got a grant of $6k, it was just a 3months top up course. I was new in canada and have 0 income from previous year, so I qualified for some grants, same for my friend. Best time to get grants is when you're new in canada with small income, so you get a lot of benefits that are for low income earners. Once you start earning above 20k per year, grant go decrease o If someone collects a loan and does not go to the school, there are implications, such individual must return the full amount that has been paid within 1month I think, this is stated clearly on studentaid Websites. Also students now have up to 1year grace after the completion of their studies to start payments, in total students have 9years to pay back. Some people pay as low as $50 per month depending on the loan amount. 14 Likes 4 Shares |

I need a candid advise. My sister studied nursing in Uk and currently works there. Few years back she wanted Canada but she had to switch to uk due to Canada stringent rules. Now she don graduate and come dey work for uk as nurse. She has intentions of moving to US or Canada but lately she seems to be drifting towards Canada. Health workers are highly in demand in Canada and everywhere. She has ruled out student route, While we are eyeing PR route, CAN SHE GET A JOB IN CANADA FROM THE UK ![]() ![]() |
AirBay: 7:44pm On Jul 30, 2023 |
Agidipie: The answer is mostly no. She won't be able to get, better for her to check usa. Canada is proud... lol. If she wants to come here as PR, she can take up a psw job first and later look into nursing. She won't be able to get a sponsored psw or nursing job from uk. |
Enculer2: 9:04pm On Jul 30, 2023 |
Agidipie: The best person to answer you is someone who has been in similar shoes as your sister and that is a UK- trained nurse. I advice your sister to the "British expats in Canada" facebook group. There are loads of UK-trained nurses who have migrated from the UK on that group. Therein will lie her answer. Share your experience here when you get an answer. 1 Like |

Good morning everyone. Has anybody with former international port (without NIN on it) get their port stamped recently by IRCC? That is the type of port I submitted to VFS because it's still valid for 3 more years but this delay at IRCC office is getting worrisome. |

Pristine664:Lol your type of port has NOTHING to do with IRCC. But if it makes you feel better. Yes. I got mine stamped recently. 1 Like 1 Share |

valjebs: So sorry I only saw this today. We came to Calgary(end of May) but couldn't find an accomodation for two weeks so we moved to Edmonton. All is good here, my wife has found a job, and with my online gig we are pretty comfortable. However I'm in search for a job in cloud computing preferably remote, but it's hard to come by.Rarely any decent tech jobs here, and I'm open to moving back to Calgary if I can find a very well paid on-site job. |

njambert: Congratulations on your landing. May Maple land favour you and yours. Out of curiosity, why are you mulling moving back to Calgary knowing fully well that things are cheaper in Edmonton as well as the cost of living being lower in Edmonton? |

Good morning guys, I am currently in England and since I came here I have been working zero hours contract jobs which means No employment letters or contracts, and my employers can’t offer one . Can my payslip be used to replace this?
