A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has urged Mmesoma Ejikeme, a 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate, to come clean with the source of her result.

Chidoka, who is also the owner of the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre where Mmesoma sat for her examination, said he will beg the t issions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for leniency if the candidate come clean with her result source.

“For Nmesoma, she should come clean and explain how she got that result and who led her down that path. If she does that, I will lend my voice to beg JAMB to note her age and show more leniency,” the ex-minister said in a statement on Wednesday.

Although Mmesoma claimed that she scored 362, JAMB insisted that her actual score is 249.

On Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Wednesday, Mmesoma said she should not be blamed for the controversy. “It’s not my fault that I printed my result like that and they said that I forged my result. It’s not my fault. So, them banning it is not fair,” she said.

The House of Representatives has since said the exam body acted in an unprofessional manner in a matter involving a minor by withdrawing the candidate’s result and banning her for three years.

The House subsequently set up an adhoc committee to investigate the matter and asked JAMB to stay action until the green chamber concludes its investigation.

In his statement on Wednesday, Chidoka said that he observed two red flags when he saw the candidate’s result online.

“First, our center is no longer addressed as Thomas Chidoka Center for Human Development on the JAMB portal since 2021. The correct name on the JAMB portal and Main Examination Slip is Nkemefuna Foundation (Thomas Chidoka Center for Human Development)…Her (Nmesoma) result showing Thomas Chidoka without the Nkemefuna Foundation, which was on her Main Examination slip, raised my suspicion about the genuineness of the result.

“The second red flag was the result template. A cursory review of some of those who took the last examination at our center showed a different result slip template with the candidate’s port picture, JAMB watermarks, and no mention of the name of the examination center.

“I gave the young Nmesoma the benefit of the doubt and waited to see if she would explain how she got the result, which is obviously not the result template that Jamb used in 2023. I knew it was fake,” the ex-minister stated, noting that his centre has been involved with the JAMB CBT examination since 2016.

He commended JAMB for coming out “forcefully” to defend its integrity, saying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should act like JAMB and explain the “technical glitch” the commission suffered in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

How this became a tribal issue still beats my imagination. A crime is a crime, irrespective of the criminal's tribe or background or religion. This girl's guardians and handlers (teachers and principals) really messed things up here. This shouldn't have been allowed to drag this long. Agreed, it might be that it wasn't the girl that produced the document, but there's no way on earth the girl will deny knowledge of the said document being fraudulent. The girl didn't produce the document, but she knew quite well that the document she was parading was 100% fake. She checked her result 5 times, getting back same response of her score of 249 all 5 times. So why still go public with a score of 362, claiming the highest performer in the exam? They should have allowed the matter to die/rest after JAMB informed them that the result was fake. Instead, they decided to go public with it in their attempt to garner public sympathy. Now, the owner of the Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Centre where she sat for her examination has come out to say both the template and the center on the fake slip raised reg flags. Are we still going to keep criticizing JAMB for trying to protect the integrity of the exam?

Over 90% of Nigerian graduates sat for JAMB. We were only interested in getting the right score that will guarantee us ission to our choice course and university. It really hurt to see how this has been tribalized. Crime is crime, period.

No one in their right senses should this. We all want and yearn for a 'new Nigeria', yet we criminality because the criminal is from our tribe, religion or background. Her case would have likely implicated Chidoka's CBT centre in the JAMB and DSS investigation into the crime so the man quickly spoke up.
At 19, she is not a minor o.Haba! JAMB has already concluded its registration so The House of Representatives is just wasting its time. Many people know the result is FAKE, and many candidates do create this fake result to deceive their parents and friends at home. But the mistake of this "LADY" is to come out BOLDY claiming she got that result from JAMB portal.

Imagine what she will become if eventually she escaped this.

People act based on the information available to them. If JAMB was as transparent as it should be, people can easily go to their website and enter their details and print out their results.
In order to make money through scratch card, they have to frustrate you in checking your results until you run out of the number of times you can check and have to buy another scratch card.

JAMB should be made to be more accessible so that results verification can be seamless and people will be well informed
