I don't quite agree. We can make it a PPP. Nigerians are too deadly and terrible. Leave everything in their hands and see them exploit others and abuse it. 22 Likes 3 Shares |

Of course government should not run businesses. It will not last (we all know why) Even in the developed countries their government contract businesses from different sectors to their entrepreneurs. Elon Musk got funding to build an underground tunnel for railways. Other global entrepreneurs and businessmen got funding of one way or the other for a landmark project in their country. Government should be more of making enabling environment such as stable electricity, roads and railways for logistics, security for businesses and entrepreneurship and investment both locally and foreign. 17 Likes 3 Shares |

A full gear capitalism is what these people are advocating for. The problem is actually wicked and unable rulers. For example, how many times did Buhari visit Benue to see the level of destruction of lives? But he was present to commission refinery! Another example is that of the former ant General, who looted the commonwealth with reckless abandon; a loot his generation cannot finish spending to the third generation!

How many businesses are being runned by the govt Oga Otedola? As far asI know Electricity is now in the hands of private individuals, most hospitals, banks, industries. Though na abokis dey run govt businesses so they don't care. Businessmen like Otedola, and co don't pay taxes to the govt, they are part of the problems

I think the govt should have large stake in major revenue generating business like a PPP, Nigeria has a Hugh population and govt does not have enough resources to provide for all, making Nigeria a full capitalist society, may not help Nigeria's lowerclass as the major revenue being generated from our massive population will only end up with the top 1 percent, even the tax they pay won't be enough to cover the gap, govt should have acquired a large stake in dangote refinery like 49percent, same percentage should go for other major economic ventures too, Nigeria should also have a robust stock exchange where ordinary citizen can easily acquire stakes too.

sonature1: Basic economics holds that governments are not best suited for running businesses. You create a viable environment for private investors and allow the private sector to compete with minimal regulationnfrom the government. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Governments don’t grow economy it’s the private sector but the government has to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. The downside to Dangote’s businesses is that he runs a monopoly aided by the government. 4 Likes 1 Share |
