A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Buba Galadima, has responded to a recent claim by President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, that his principal would leave Nigeria better than he met it in 2015 in of security and the economy.

Adesina had, in a statement on Sunday, claimed Buhari would not be leaving Nigeria the way he met it.

Reacting, Galadima prayed for God to visit Adesina with what the common people suffer daily in Nigeria.

Galadima said on Arise Television’s Morning Show program on Wednesday, “We wish that he (Buhari) could have kept the country (as he met it) on May 29, 2015. We could have clapped for him and escorted him to Daura or wherever he intends to live after leaving office.

“The man has set Nigeria 100 years back, divided Nigeria across religious lines, along ethnic lines and crashed economic policies that have left the dollar which he met at N157/$1 and he’s now leaving it at N800/$1, that is if you see the dollar to buy.

“And insecurity was confined to the North East generally, except some dark spots that had happened in Abuja, Kano, and some few other places. Today, you cannot travel to any part of Nigeria with your eyes closed. You have to spend the night praying that God delivers you.

“If that’s the kind of Nigeria that Femi Adesina wants, then I pray to God to visit him with what the common people suffer daily in Nigeria.”

Anyone who tells you Buhari divided Nigeria along religious lines has forgotten the events of the 1980's, 1990's even 2000's.

The division has always been there, alongside the ethnic division.

No, this is not a defence of Buhari. But the fact is, religion has been used against and for Buhari's regime, by many Nigerians

1.OIC thing
2.The heated debates about Sharia law during the Consturent Assembly meetings in 1977-78..at one point there was a walkout.
3.The religious riots of the 1980's...Maitatasine, the burning of chruches in Kaduna State in 1987, and the very vicious Sharia riots in the North in the early 2000's.
4.It is fuelled by politics and by people fighting over national cake. As Elechi Amadi put it in his non-fiction Sunset in Biafra...to get things done in Nigeria, you need someone in place who is your tribesman or same religion. And that was written in 1971.

My problem with nairaland is that there are a few persons that have lived perpetually on the politics section for years, I just wish they would just follow Buhari to Daura and from there to Niger Republic so that this hitherto educative and entertaining site can breathe a new lease of life.

Even the owner of Nairaland is tired of them and hardly active on his site except when he tried to see if he could curtail the tribal and ethnic slurs on his platform.
Some of these commenters are so annoying and they are always occupying the first page because they are quick to book space and derail every thread which is tiresome for those looking for genuine information 🙄
