Don't mind them. They have never even owned a successful business. That's why. If they have, they would have known what it takes to break even and remain in business
They? Government u mean? Or Nigerians?

The small business I run is almost dying as a result of taxes
FIRS VAT
LIRS
- Development levy
- Business premises
ITF
NSITF
Council tax
LGA tax for warehouse
Lagos State Environmental service/agency tax
Iya-Oloja tax
Owoda boys
You carry the goods from warehouse to the main road, they will collect money

Haaaaaaaaaaa, how much do I make?

How can a tax evaded be choking?

How many companies or individuals are paying the above listed taxes?

Is Nigerian tax system efficient talk less of choking?
With the VAT/WHT system FIRS has started, hope you will not shout when you approach the ordinary akara woman and she tells you you have to pay VAT on the akara and if you refuse, she request for your TIN and one day FIRS shows up on your door step with tax liabilities plus penalities for not remitting VAT due to the government.

Clueless people!

When few factories let cannot survive:

How can there be jobs for teeming unemployed population

How can Naira not lose value

How will there not be crime

They should reduce instead of adding more. Why can't the politicians tax themselves

Can't they think they need to even make VAT 0% on locally produced goods and increase same for imported goods especially luxury items.
Lol at the bolded, just go to a small cottage factory and see the way they have sent letters from difference agencies both state and federal for one inspection or something, they keep killing small industriee. ALL political office holders don't pay TAXES in Nigeria

What are you saying? If you don't know, you better ask. I pay income tax of about 1.8million Naira monthly. Do I get equivalent worth of that in services provided? The roads I can't drive my cars on, I still pay for my kids education right from primary school, electricity is hardly available, I still sank my own borehole to get water. Can you tell me what they offer me to justify collecting 1.8million monthly?
Yet, It doesn't stop Nigerian police from slapping or harassing me or any other citizens on the road.
It's obvious you are one of those that don't pay taxes in Nigeria.
Do you pay this in Lagos?

How many real financial statements or sales figures does FIRS has access to?
Don't get it twisted Nigerian companies and individuals are mostly tax evaders, no matter the system they put in place, lack of integrity by the staffs will always circumvent the system

You pay taxes in Nigeria? That's strange. Except organisation I don't think any Nigerian pay taxes. Yet government still provide roads (though not as good as we want but it's free), free education from primary to University, free power supply (though not regularly). But don't you think if we're paying for all these just like they do in other countries, I think nigeria will be better
Someone really typed this nonsense
Jesus christ!!!
What is free education and power supply?

The duplication of agencies collecting unnecessary tax is insane
Anyone with sense knows you can't overtax a poor economy

This is why I don't validate the assumption that Nigerians are not paying taxes. All these corporate taxes are absorbed in the prices of the products. Hence, transferred to the consumers

Last last, they will close down. The factories will be taken over by churches. Lets then see who they will tax.
Anyway the one that pains me is importation. You by a motor eg 5k usd, you ship it eg 1200usd.
You will then use minimum of ₦1.4m to clear the old car from Port! As howwww?.
How can we that are poorer, pay for more to drive late model cars that those in rich western countries?
