The Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday night announced 29-year-old Akarachi Amadi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, the winner of the supplementary election for Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State held on Saturday.

Announcing the votes polled by the respective candidates at the federal constituency’s collation centre located at Nworuibi in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area, the Federal Constituency Returning Officer, Prof Boniface Okoro, said that the APC candidate polled the highest number of votes.

Okoro, disclosed that Amadi got a total of 21, 372 votes while his closest rival, Uche Ogbuagu, of the Labour Party, scored a total of 18, 296 votes.

The incumbent and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Henry Nwawuba, garnered 7, 202 votes, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Usmond Ukanacho, polled 6,681 votes, Chinonso Uba of the African Democratic Congress scored 4, 100 votes, while Godstime Chukwunuikem of the Social Democratic Party got 246 votes.

There was wild jubilation in the area immediately after the 29-year-old was returned as the winner of the election.

If we are to follow the noise labour party ers make online, you will think APC can't even pull up to a thousand votes in any election in Imo or the east talk more of winning. Congratulations to the winner, I hope he serves the people well.

Congrats, as we can see here, sometimes, its not the party but the candidate that makes the difference. Had apc fielded a more credible and tested leader from the South, they would have had better chance, rather than resort to outright rigging and theft of the peoples mandate, same thing playing out in Adamawa.

One of the best news I've waited to hear.
The man Uche Ogbuagu, for those who do not know him, castigated politicians with his "Ọchichi gbakwaa ọkụ" audio-comedy-satire series, only to politics and become the very thing he mocked for years.

The day my tiler recounted his personal working experience with this man, I knew for sure that most of the things we as Nigerians fight against, is almost what we become when we've had a taste of power.

I am exceeding happy, that jumping into the Labour party did not save him!
