Must every road in Nigeria have drainage? Is it now a cultural thing in Nigeria?
That road should have a drainage.
It is not everything you have to defend. Sometime just accept the obvious and move on.

Look at that pic again.
I'm not engineer but look at the sorrounding soil.
Look at the soil type and slope of that land.
Now, imagine what will happen to water runoff when it rains.
The road will not last without proper drainage and the area will even be worse than before.

You pour asphalt on top Red sand and call it road, when the rains comes, it will wash away, what he should have done is buy 16mm and concreate and sand and build a road that will last at least 50 years

Concrete road for inner roads in a small community?

This road was done about 9-10yrs ago with low quality material that it didn't last upto 2yrs before pot holes started and erosion took over.
[

Hmmm..... so maybe another two years for the same to happen to this road? What did they learn? It's so clear that drainage problems will lead to the qui k destruction of this road.... which is below the land level. When it rains water will surely run off and flood the road. Must all roads and highways have drainage? No... many don't.... but do they need drainage?

The governor and his works commissioner are both dumb skulls. They build roads without drainages yet OPHIUS or whatever his name is comes online to such nonsense.

Good roads have drainage. Don’t you want something good for your community? A single flood can wash all these away.

So what should we rather celebrate white elephant projects like airport, some needless flyovers, 100 story skyscraper, ultra modern malls that don't benefit the mass or improved basic transportation infrastructure like road which is lacking in Nigeria

Nigeria is the only country on the surface of the earth that when they manage to begin construction on a road of less than 10km it will make headlines

OEPHIUS:
Propelled by promises in his inaugural address, ion for good governance and commitment to transformational development drive in the rural areas, especially in Nsukka, a university town and the second largest city in Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is currently advancing construction works on five roads in Nru, Edem and Eha-Alumona communities, all in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state.

Below is the ongoing asphalting of Ikpa Road (Nru) being handled by Ferotex Construction Company Limited.

Nigerian politicians and engineers are still constructing roads like they do 200 years ago. No curbs/ sidewalk. No concrete foundation. No drainage. Then after one month, the roads starts to show sand. Yeye people.

Nazgul:

Don't mind them. Imagine constructing a road without proper drainage and solar powered street lights. By this time next two years, that road would become a shadow of itself.

We celebrate mediocrity a lot in this country.

I have to be honest, I am not angineer.

Bust does every road man made drainage? The are many well constructed the test of time with draunages. The forest can easily absorb the excess water, hence a drainage may not be 100% necessary. Drainage may only be necessary at some strategic points in some roads if needed.

But for roads in cities, drainages are a must.

That one pain you? Ok, see as the road rhymes with the sands at the side. No concrete underlay. At least the road is even supposed to be higher than the sands flanking both sides.

See them . As gullible as ever. You're already so impressed. This shabby thing is why you're joyous?

Watch as they say, " at least it's better than nothing". Them after one month, all the "billions" spent would have amount to nothing.
