Unreliable internet has always been an issue for me in Lagos. The best Internet Service Providers use Fibre Optics but have very limited coverage areas. So when I heard Starlink would be rolling out their Low Orbit internet service in Africa, It Immediately piqued my Interest.

I made a preorder for the service in May of 2021 with a refundable deposit of $99. I did this due to the projected rollout of the service by the end of 2021. I did not get any update from Starlink until early december of 2022. I was told to pay up a balance of $501 so my exquipment would be shipped.

8 days after making full payment, my Starlink Equipment was delivered to me by DHL. It is a plug and play device that is easy to install by following very simple steps on the manual. I mounted the dish on my compound, at a postion with good sky visibility and the device connected to an available Satellite within a few minutes.

My Internet experience is now the best I have ever had it, here in Nigeria.

Total cost of Equipment $600
Monthly Subscription for Unlimited Internet $43

For my order, Starlink included 14 days free Internet that started counting from the day equipment was shipped. I got equipment 3 days after shipment so that translated to 11 free days.

I think equipment are already in dhl warehouse, once payment is complete they do shipment within 3 days

You are very correct two companies that I know say it’s unlimited because they don’t expect you to finish 4000 minutes a month

Use Speedtest.net app by Ookla, see if the result is any different. Also, check for obstruction, I suspect there's a lot of obstruction where your dish is placed.

Lastly, split the 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels, and use the faster 5ghz

Yup, most likely didn't position it well. Would be nice to see screenshots of the visibility data

Your infinix is connected via 2.4ghz WiFi. You can never get high speed. Connect to 5ghz and see how you'll jump to 150+

No there is no obstructions

There consultation is in development stage, so service will get better as more satellite come online.

The service is great, if it works. But from my experience they don't have good customer . That said, if the service or any of the hardware get issues, know that you're on your own. It take more than a week before reply to my issues.


1- there is a bot, take longer before you get human intervention.

2- there consultation is getting better.

3- the app make always State the state of your service Offline, Online, Searching, Obstructed with more information in the statistics section of the app.

4 - I did enjoy the service, while the service is better than anything I have tried, I don't get the promise speed and latency. ( I have to wait for more satellite to get to their orbit, so that my area will be served better) at least that's what the bot told me.

If you are having unique challenges, and you are 100% sure that you have tried everything possible and done everything correctly, it's possible that your unit or cable is faulty. You need to Starlink as soon as possible and lay your complaint. If I were you, I would request for a replacement.

Even the AMERICANS paying 110$ per month don't get proper customer , so they don't care, take it or leave it's up to you. That is there way of running the business.

The service is great there customer is bad
