What is the minimum wage in the state you reside?
Compare it to Nigeria's 30k and show us the difference.
Average minimum wage in New York is 14$ multiple this by 8hrs a day=112
Multiply by 5 days a week=560
Multiply by 4 =2240$ a month.
Multiply this by exchange rate of 450= roughly 1m
naira.
It will take a 9ja minimum wage wage worker at least 33 months to earn what his counterpart in NY earns in a month.
Please don't provoke me again oh.

Ignorance. An average American can't even afford to pay his rent. But to mofos like you , they're all rich since they're white and they're god

This is equivalent to 1 year rent for a Duplex in some areas on Lagos Mainland and like 1 year rent for a 3bed flat in some estates in Lekki phase 1, its not even enough for an agent fee to buy half plot of land in most developed parts of Lagos Mainland grin

Nigeria is too cheap to live. We don't even pay taxes in Nigeria. Food is free or cheap

And then do you know how much tax they remove from this calculated wage? Do you know how much he pays in rent? Even if he pays $1750 in rent every month? and why are you converting to naira when it's obvious they're spending this money in America? You know most of you ain't even happy with what you earn without necessarily converting it to naira to give yourself validation of how you earn better than a bank manager in Nigeria LoL, oloribu niyin sehhh. You want evil for Nigeria but it is you that will meet evil

Now you agree with my line of reasoning. Things are cheap cheap bcuz it cost less to make and even the locals don't earn much to buy them. Is an insult to call cost of living cheap when or purchasing power is far far lower than what you earn over there. An average American living from pay check to pay check still have a better standard of living than most Nigerians.
But mofos sorry MOTHERFVCKERS like you won't agree. Nigeria is paradise yet almost all her tooth want to japa. All yourself why?

this calculation is so wrong.

minimum wages in a month in nigeria is #30,000 ($40)

in the US is $7.25 per hour.
Agreed but all the states pay more than the national minimum wage. Even at 7.5$ their purchasing power far exceed ours so why the comparison?

Basically, everything is fucking cheap in Nigeria relative to other countries, especially the western countries I have been to. The rent I used to pay in the US for a month will literally buy two acres of land in Lagos, and the amount I spend on food when I went to the US is enough to last me for the whole year in Nigeria if I spend extravagantly. This is what I noticed over time. Is it because wages and salary are not that great in Nigeria or there are other reasons to This?

You said the $1200 to $2000 you’re paying for rent a month in the US will get you an acre of land in Lagos.

This is the biggest lie of the season.

I see planes in the sky even if I never travel out before.

To err is human, to forgive is divine. Actually, I was supposed to really get angry at you, but I choose to forgive you. How generous can anyone get? If I don't forgive you, you might never have a chance to come to The United States or Canada and that'd mean you have a small chance of being successful in life (since you won't be able to come abroad anyways). People that know me know that I don't get angry any how but once I do, there's problem.

Tell me not to be angry with you anymore, who knows, I might really find a place in my heart to forgive you.

Yours sincerely, Victor

But the cost of living is too low in Nigeria. The lowest I've seen so far across The world. It's like everytime comes to us too cheap and high quality. What others pay for through their nose, we get it for free. We thank God for this, cuz it can only be God

Have you cared to ask what the minimum wage in Nigeria is before deciding if the cost of living is cheap or not?
What's the Per Capita income is in Nigeria

Imagine saying food is cheap, an average Nigeria earns 50-70k, a decent accommodation in a city for 2bed is between 250-800k. How many Nigerians can afford that now.
For food 5k can't be enough to cook a pot of Soup and Stew currently in Nigeria.
Bag of rice is now 35k. And you say food is cheap.

In developed countries, 300-400pounds, dollars or Euros can feed a family of 4 in a month.
Nigeria is the worst place to live now if you are not rich.
Juoflife1(f): 8:16am On Feb 12, 2023
For someone who earns in another currency, it's cheap. If you go by the wages in Nigeria, it's not cheap. Minimum wage cannot even buy a bag of Nigerian rice

Honestly, from your analysis so far, you don't understand it. Yes, Nigeria is cheap but not on Nigeria's salaries. The same applies to Thailand and Vietnam. Those places are cheap with the US dollars but not so for the local currencies. It's an apple to orange comparison.

You compares Nigeria to say South Africa and the US to . Apples to apples not apples to Udaras.

When you generate your income from the Nigerian economy, it doesn't become cheap. If your income is dollar denominated, it's cheap.

This is elementary economics.

I was only talking about the specifics of what I observed. 5years ago, I made the move to draw back to Nigeria permanently. However, I was an expat in the US throughout last year, my contract ended in December. Getting back to The US system again, I noticed I spend 5* on food in the US of what I spend in Nigeria (even with their very low quality food and diet). Same on rent and bills. Imagine paying close to $3k for a one room in a remote place in Phoenix. Ahah. My electricity bill for the whole Year was about $3k just for using heater

Don’t let the figure amaze you. Even with the high wages, they are barely able to afford things there. Most of them living paycheck to paycheck. The figure seems amazing because you’re converting it to Naira. They don’t spend Naira. They spend dollars and that $7.5 hourly rate is damn low.

A person earning minimum wage has no business buying a bag of rice with all monthly earnings. Rather they should focus on elevating their status.

Nobody earns the minimum wage that the government use as bench mark for civil servants.

Most people still don’t get the idea of the minimum wage.
If the government employs you today, the minimum wage is what will be used as bench mark to calculate your salary.

Minimum wage means level 1, step 1 which nobody uses as a start even if the government employs you as an illiterate with no certificate like public schools gate men and cleaners.
HND holders are started with Level 7, step 3 while BSC holders who gets employed today are started with Level 8.
So your salary will be worked on based on the bench mark.
So the higher the benchmark, the higher your salary.
I think new HND holders should start between 80-120k.
A new nurse employed in general hospital using the benchmark will earn 120k for a start Atleast
Nigeria minimum wage doesn’t affect the private sector rather public sector reason why you see many governors shouting and screaming they can’t pay it while private companies work on their own independent salary scale
Juoflife1(f): 11:42am On Feb 13, 2023
Much people don't even earn up to100k. How much does npower volunteers earn? How much does the people in cleaning industry and dispatch earn? Aren't they part of Nigerian people? A live chicken is like 10k in Nigeria, frozen from 2500. No N100 indomie again. Fuel, School fees and rent nko? The country is expensive in my opinion.

$33,000 at black market exchange rate can sure buy a plot of land in some areas on the Lagos Mainland (excluding Ikeja, Ajao, Ago Palace, Oshodi, Gbagada, Surulere, Anthony, Ilupeju, Isolo, Amuwo, Festac, Satelite Town, Mile 2, Apapa, etc) but can never buy you a government documented land on Lagos Island reas like; Lekki phase 1 and 2, Ajah. Maybe from anywhere after Lagos Business School down to Epe you can buy 1 plot to 5 plots with it.

With N26,000,000!!!!!! Lands so expensive in Lagos ooo.
