As at 3years ago,it was doable. Right now with anything less than 18m forget it. Pop finishing alone if you buy materials yourself is 7k/sqm. An average 3bed with 200sqm is 1.4m for pop this is not contractor rate o.

a good structural analysis requires at least 48hours of work which will total about 1k dollars, for a floor structure so how many clients are willing to pay for that hours. Then the construction itself has to be engineered not that you take what a professional engineer has done and give to your quack builder because he has 20years of building experience. How many clients are willing to pay for that

when earthquake happens in a particular area, the surrounding buildings will experience a certain level of vibrations from the earthquake, it's also known as seismic waves, if this waves are taken into consideration during the design and construction of those nearby buildings, the building will resist such waves.

But for buildings directly above and close to the earthquake, collapse Is due to occur, but that is majorly depending on the magnitude of the earthquake.

7.8 magnitude on the richter scale is huge..

It can happen in Nigeria.

So if building a multi-level structure you should be concerned about this.

Of course, that does not mean a single-level structure cannot be affected.

But there is seismic code or earthquake code adopted by some country to limit this disaster, There are about 5 ways to design building foundation with this code to safe any building or structure.

but there's what we call seismic design in structures, there are codes to cater for that, if those buildings were up to codes some lives would still be saved, the disaster won't be as fatal.
