Barça Femení are as indomitable as ever in the Spanish championship, treating the Estadi Johan Cruyff to seven goals on Sunday afternoon.

Following an emotional prelude in which the Barça Foundation team was presented to the large crowd doing their own take on the Maori haka, the game got going with Barça dominating and taking the lead on the quarter hour through Geyse, and new English g Keira Walsh then got to celebrate her first goal for her new club seven minutes before the break.

It was in the second half that the floodgates opened. Pina made it three shortly after the restart, then a fabulous assist from Rolfö set up number four for Oshoala, who has now scored in seven consecutive games.

Mariona scored an absolute belter to make it 5-0, and in near replica of the fourth goal, Rolfö again supplied Oshoala for the sixth.

Barça were in utter command against a totally outclassed Betis and there was still time for Oshoala to round off a fantastic day by completing her seu hat-trick.

Next up is a trip to Alavés on Saturday 11 February.

Do you ever have those moments in which you are on your own and you see something move behind you as you look into a mirror? Something that distracts you, that makes you focus your gaze before shaking your head as you realise that it was just light: it must have been the light, what else could it be?

For footballers in Liga F, this sensation of thinking you’ve seen something fly by happens on a weekly basis. Except for them, it is not a trick of the light. It is something moving past them at speed that they cannot process. Unfortunately for them, it is Asisat Oshoala, and she’s just scored another goal for FC Barcelona.

The striker is currently topping the league’s goal scoring charts this season and finds herself in incredible form as Nigeria prepare to go into their 8th World Cup, this time in Australia and New Zealand.

Oshoala’s qualities make her unique

She has scored so much that the Nigerian forward has an astonishing 3 hat-tricks in 4 games this season and currently sits atop of the goal scorer charts in the Liga F, with 17 goals. She has bagged three against Betis, Levante Las Planas and Granadilla, with one against Valencia in between. Alba Redondo of Levante is second in the list with 16 as they are doing their best Barcelona impression, not losing since the end of November.

Asisat Oshoala, despite not being the star in the Barcelona side, does have a lot of qualities that make her stand out from the rest. She is incredibly fast, and a nightmare for defenders late on in games, as her pace and power on the ground allows her to burn past opponents and into the space that tired legs usually leave. Add that to an instinct of knowing where to be in exactly the right moment, and you start to build a picture of how she got to the top of the leaderboard.

An amazing return

In her last 4 games she has played 182 minutes of a possible 360, scoring 9 goals. She has scored 14 in all competitions this year so far and across the season she is on 21 in total. In 4 years she has over 100 goals for the Catalan club.
