This is crazy and they really expect people to pay for their flights upfront when they do nonsense like this.

Jiol:

Submitted for evisa via VFS on 22nd December. Travel date was 15th JAN, Still have not gotten a response from them. No idea why.

HERE's MY OWN ROUGH THEORY/ASSUMPTION (I may be wrong, please):
It takes VFS max 10-15 working to process a visa. I just used a business days calculator online to determine how many working days (in SA) are there between 22 Dec 2022 and 15 Jan 2023, the result is 14 working days. Therefore, they would have ordinarily come back to you with a on 16 Jan which is past your departure date. As many have mentioned on this platform, VFS evisa platform has been granting visas for the exact travel dates (no addition or subtractions). So, they may have decided not to grant you the visa on 16 Jan (when your travel date is 15 Jan) or they need some top official's approval to make an exception in your case. The obvious risk you took is applying on 22 Dec, very close to the height of the holiday season. Notwithstanding, they should have still given you be it an approval or rejection.

Another assumption is that your submission was not straightforward. Perhaps, there are some representations you made or documents you submitted that are in issue.

Your case is actually unusual, so please send an email to [email protected] and continue to do so until they give you a helpful .

The guy who was supposed to travel on the 16th of January, have you gotten your VFS e visa?
Also, the travel date for the VFS e visa is tomorrow, is there a need to send an email if the visa doesn’t come out today?

Not yet. I guess the queue may have gotten long again.

This SA visa is now becoming annoying and unnecessarily frustrating!!!! Alot of people were forced to apply through VFS because of the delay with walk in and now the VFS e visa is also not guaranteed again!!!! These people are just so incompetent, even first world countries will not stress anyone like this , imagine SA, it’s the audacity for me , no be their fault!!!

The E-vfs route has casted, more people are now applying for e-visas especially now when the whole world know how hard it is to get a sticker visa. Most Lagos travel agent don’t apply for stickers again because of the delays, they opt for e-vfs and charge higher because of how fast they process it. The home affairs/consulate keep blaming COVID and shortage of staffs for the delay it’s so sad. Even to withdraw port sef na war. Meanwhile Travel & Tourism contribute very much to their GDP

What if it’s a company/organization that is sponsoring your study visa and you don’t work for that company though, what are the documents one need to submit as proof of fund? I’m a bit confused. Any idea
Thanks

1. Get a financial /sponsorship letter from the company. The company should confirm and undertake in the letter that they will be responsible for all your finances or your school fees for the total duration of your study and the letter should indicate why they are sponsoring you including the ties/links/connection they have with you. They should include a physical address, email address and phone number that would be reachable at all times. I recommend that at least one of the signatories/sole signatory to the company bank should sign the financial /sponsorship letter on behalf of the company. The signatory should include his/her port data page duly notarized by a notary public.

2. The financial /sponsorship letter should be ed by the following documents:

- The company’s bank statement (3/6 months) (Original, Stamped & Signed by the bank authority) showing at least twice the amount of your school fees to be convincing. The statement should have a healthy inflow of revenue.
- A letter of reference from the bank on behalf of the sponsoring company confirming the sole signatory/signatories to the
- certificate of incorporation of the company
- evidence of the company’s ties with you. A company can’t just sponsor an applicant (who is not their employee) for no reason, there must be a reason e.g CSR or scholarship.

It's crazy. Don't call it an "E-visa" if it will take more than 3 working days to process. Are they the first? Other countries that issue E-visas within 4 hours do they have two heads? As you said, it's the audacity.

Please house, I need a professional advice on this issue. A senior colleague who applied for research visitor to participate in postdoc in SA got declined. The reason they gave was that he did not submit South Africa police report. This is a fellow who had left SA since 2018 after his PhD and no one requested for it at VFS when he submitted his application. Please, what's the way out ? Is it to appeal or apply for a fresh application? What time does the appeal take? How can someone who left the republic five years ago get their police report? Cos I think it might need capturing. Its very urget please!!!

Apply for fresh application to be safe. These people that are even yet to answer people that applied for visa over 8months ago, do you think it’s appeal they’ll start attending to? Just Re-apply and pray it doesn’t take long before their decisions comes out.

One question: when did the post doc student apply for visa and when did he get declined?

He applied 28th January, 2022. Almost a year ago. Did the reason for rejection valid? Someone that left SA 4 years ago?

I assume his research visit will exceed 3 months. Therefore, an original police clearance certificate issued by the police in each country where he has resided for 12 months or longer after attaining the age of 18 years is compulsory. So, it’s not about when he left SA but, how long he lived in SA as an adult. If he stayed there for more than 12 months, then he must submit a police clearance certificate from SA in addition to any other country he has lived in for over 12 months as an adult. Also, the certificate must not be older than six months at the time of its submission.

I always recommend that applicants should read the documents checklist on the VFS site thoroughly. Ask him to submit a fresh application and please the document checklist (you’ll see the police report requirement in paragraph 13): https://visa.vfsglobal.com/one-pager/southafrica/nigeria/english/pdf/visitor-visa-exceeding-three-months-jan-2022.pdf

How do one obtain SA police report from Nigeria? Last time i checked, even while being in SA yourself it takes at least 3 months after doing biometrics at SA police stations for it to be approved.
So how do they expect us to get SA police clearance while being physically present in Nigeria knowing how difficult it can sometimes be.
Just to add that i submitted my visitors visa application for one year postdoc research since May 2022 and no response still.

Tell the fellow to first get the SA police report and reapply again. There’s no point appealing the decision because they won’t reply him on the appeal. Cheers.

. Write to your school. Few weeks ago the Home Affairs requested all VC via International office to submit list of students with pending applications for quick adjudication.

Fresh application is the best option. An appealed take longer time. The police report from SA is needed. He should send his finger print & port data page for the police clearance certificate. It takes six weeks
