abduleez1:Avatar hitting $1 billion or suring $1 billion isn't surprising, it's undebatable, it's destined to sur $1 Billy. Black Adam being a box office b.omb is shocking and devastating, like a whole Dwayne Johnson movie flopped so hard and i was even predicting $1 Billy before? ![]() I think not being released in China affected the revenue. 1 Like |

Ikillbrokehoes: Black Adam deserved to flop. The movie is dreadful. China's release wouldn't have made much of a difference. |

Ikillbrokehoes:why was it banned in china tho? |

Ikillbrokehoes: Lol, I don't think even the most optimistic DC fans expected BA to earn $1bn. Highest figures were $600-700mn depending on performance. Yep, China ban affected the film a lot as Dwayne is mega box office draw over there. It could probably have hit at least $120mn over there. |

abduleez1: As a the rock matter, I expected the movie to hammer. I didn't find the movie that bad, because all the pissing yall did not it meant I was watching it with reduced expectations from the start. Not that you actually watch a rock movie for the coherent storyline. A man in movies based on boardgames, Disney ride and a middling video game is not where you go to for high quality plot. |

GloriousGbola: The movie ain't that bad. It's way better than Thor 4. The only reason it's receiving huge knocks is cos of The Rock. Man hyped that film to the high heavens like the second coming of Christ and wouldn't shut up about it. I guess he's a hypeman but dude overpromised. I was never expecting a jaw dropping experience but at least it should be coherent or good to Jungle Cruise quality na. Jumanji were great fun movies even with the jokes. Even Red Notice was fun. Skyscraper that I feel is a weak movie looks good compared to Black Adam. That annoying boy in that movie sef did no one favours. The film having several weak characters was a huge problem. Only Dr Fate (Pierce Brosnan) and Hawkman were the highlights. The rest na trash. A movie can have a weak lead and still be great with good ing cast covering the weak links. BA didn't have that in enough numbers. The writers let it down. The funny thing is that if you look at online discussions between casual moviegoers you'd notice that many didn't know the movie was connected to Shazam. And some complained why there was almost no connectivity to Shazam (asides from the wizard showing). That singular decision to alienate his main antagonist affected that movie. Imagine if people knew, the ones who liked Shazam would have trouped to it in anticipation of what's to come in Shazam 2 that's debuting next. And that's my main anger with Dwayne not necessarily the film. My least expectation for the movie was $550mn. And China sadly thought otherwise. |

GloriousGbola: People expected something more akin to Infinity War given how DJ hyped it up as his ion project. Instead, we got something more analogous to The Suicide Squad (The first one). Something so mediocre and forgettable that you'd be hard pressed to recall anything quotable from the film. As far as superhero films go, it ranks second to Love & Thunder as my least favourite of the year. 6 Likes |

DandeNumeruno: I have to agree on the first suicide squad comment. The script was literally all over the place. 3 Likes |

GloriousGbola: Even as a fan of DJ and his style of film, when you stop to think about it, this is probably the most pointless superhero movie ever made. Not only was it a critical and financial flop, but it was also a part of a universe that is now dead and undergoing a hard reboot. So everything seen in that film was irrelevant, especially that cameo at the end. Out of all the bad DCEU movies that came out before James Gunn, this one will go down as one of the worst, owing to its pointlessness. 8 Likes |

Ikillbrokehoes: Can we put an end to the notion that DJ is a titan in Hollywood and that his films are box office smashes? Aside from his F&F and Jumanji films, his films tend to perform mediocrely. San Andreas, Skyscraper, Rampage, and so on... none of these films did particularly well at the box office. With Black Adam being a financial flop, I believe it's time to reconsider his status as a box office titan. 1 Like |

abduleez1: Man - a Shazam with his boyish happy go lucky trying to be a hero shitck vs a weary taciturn and hardened black adam - would have played much better than we are the justice society and we are here for stability. |

DandeNumeruno: San Andreas smashed the box office bro. Big part of it was down to the Rock's star power. |
abduleez1(m): 1:23pm On Dec 28, 2022 |
DandeNumeruno: Lol, calm your horses bro... ![]() San Andreas and Rampage were never box office underperformers. They are not even franchise films and performing that good.

Frostyzone: abduleez1: Disaster films used to rule the box office back then. Without any star power, 2012 (another disaster film) made over $700 million worldwide just 5 years prior. DJ led Hercules barely crossed $200 million on a $100 million+ budget, and Pain & Gain couldn't even reach $90 million globally. |

Glass Onion - A Knives Out Mystery (2022) 7/10 Rian Johnson did quite the amazing job with the first Knives Out movie and I feel he'd probably have done better with this one if he'd been less concerned about giving Elon Musk the finger. Yes, Rian, your less than subtle placeholder Musk character didn't go unnoticed. Props to Johnson, he does deliver an interesting and entertaining mystery story, through the first and second acts. The third act ends up feeling rather a bit underwhelming. It felt as though the mystery got resolved right as it started picking up steam and the whole burn-it-down sequence felt a bit anticlimactic. Glass Onion, all in all, is still a pretty enjoyable mystery movie. Just fell a bit of the mark of matching its predecessor. P.S: Haven't really noticed anyone talking about the jab to the conservative red pill alpha male side of the internet taken with Bautista's character. Another evidence that most people won't recognize the "forced wokeism and agenda" they claim to hate until some YouTuber points it out, usually when the movie or series has poor ratings as well. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Kaycee7:It’s a very entertaining movie with many(little) things going on. On second or third watch, many will see things they previously missed. One of my favourite little detail was when Miles was handing drinks to his friends, he gave each theirs in a customized glass, but gave Peg a generic red cup, we later see her customizing the cup with a marker pen ![]() |

Kaycee7:It's still a head-scratcher why folks keep saying they don't understand "Tenet". giving, one might simply not get it on first watch but there are tons of trusted articles and sub reds explaining the entirety of the it in such delicate details that seeing it again armed with these explained details, might be a breeze. |

It's official, The Way of Water is now a billion dollar movie. Took it only 12 days to gross 1bn. It's projected to gross 1.4bn before new year. Won't have any real competition in January so 2bn final gross is definitely possible. Never bet against James Cameron. |
