The bolded is not totally correct..

Lump sum is not the issue but the failure to convincingly explain to the Visa officer the source of the huge amount and the need or reason of such amount at that particular moment. If an applicant can explain in details about the lump sum to the Visa officer, then the applicant will get his/her Visa.

If you say Lump sum is a red flag, so what will you say about applicants that got their Visas despite having lump sums in their ..

Please be careful about the information you put down here and kudos to the great work you doing here..

Yes, you are correct, lump sums are always a red flag, but since the money comes from a fixed deposit and is in your name, visa officers are unlikely to have issues with it. You can show the trail from the fixed deposit to your by submitting the investment certificate, proof of transfer and bank statements. You can also get a letter from the bank to your explanation.

Instead of removing dad from the , why can’t you use dad as a sponsor since his name is on the fixed ? Besides, you are a recent graduate with no work experience.

Get a gift deed from dad if you insist on being a self-sponsor.

My school revoked my offer since August 17th, based on no seat available, tho I had paid 1st year tuition. I have been writing for a reinstatement and they said they will reply by this week, no response yet, school starts by Tuesday 6th Sept and that's my deadline too. My eligibility have started.... Meanwhile I secured ission for January 2023 in another college, please what do you all suggest? I'm so confused and can't loose my resources, time and expectations just like that!
Can the revoked status affect ircc decision on my application?
Should I pursue the January intake asap, my tuition deadline is approaching considering the form A wahala.

Again, I wonder why you are eager to oppose without first gaining an understanding. First, you commented on my statement regarding an application assessment before it is sent to a visa officer to make the final decision. Luckily @ Frankrobbn1, who we know has immense knowledge in this field, has confirmed it.

Lump-sum is always a red flag, of course, without explanation. However, if you are not focused so much on letting us know you are a guru, you would have noticed I went further to state that she explains the lump sum. In fact, I discussed how to go about it.

Sometimes the feeling that you are more knowledgeable than others can make you oblivious to things that need no interpretation. So, read to comprehend and stop focusing on a word. I am here to share my testimonial and also drop the timeline of my SOWP application which I already shared on the Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) thread but thought it wise to also come back here to share it as well since it all began here.
It hasn’t been an easy road but God finally completed His work and to Him I return all the glory.
This was my second SOWP visa application as I had put in my first application together with my wife’s first study permit application early 2021 and both applications got refused. We had initially retained the services of a very reputable IRCC ed consultant in Canada and spent so much for this service, so getting a refusal on both applications had taken us off balance. In that confusion and desperation for a quick solution, I had gotten online and discovered this Study Permit thread on Nairaland which I thoroughly read through for weeks and kept coming across a particular name with people singing his praises and how he helped transform their cases and refusals to approvals through his detailed touch “Frankrobb”, I took a leap of faith and reached out to him and I must confess, that was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. After consulting with him, we agreed my wife applied alone for her second study permit application and when she gets the visa and arrives Canada, I apply for my SOWP to her which we did and here we are, all visas finally approved to the praises, glory and thanks to God almighty. My timeline:

Application submitted on 9th May, 2022.

Biometric was from previous application and was updated on 11th May, 2022.

Did upfront medicals on 5th May, 2022 that was submitted with my application documents.

Medicals didn’t update until July 15th when I decided to disturb IRCC Nairobi and Abuja in July through emails and webforms.

PPR on yesterday, 29th August, 2022.


Documents submitted:

The basic IRCC forms from their website,
My SOP, My bank statement, Bank reference letter, Employment Appointment letters, My Bachelors and Masters Degree Certificates, Marriage certificate, Newspaper publication for wife’s change of name, Sworn Affidavit of wife’s name change, Trad and White wedding Pictures, family pictures with parents and siblings, COVID vaccination card, National ID Card, Upfront Medical Sheet, Old and new International port Biodata pages, Police Certificates (Nigeria and UK), NYSC Certificate, port Photo, WES Assessment, SSCE Certificate, Landed property documents, Car documents, Professional Certifications, Leave letter, Work ID card, Payslips for 6months, CV, Work Promotion letter, Birth certificate, past visa pages and stamps on my port, wife’s study visa, wife’s study permit, wife’s ission letter, wife’s school ID card, wife’s enrollment letter, wife’s letters of Authorization and Invitation, wife’s port bio data page, wife’s social insurance number(SIN) document, wife’s full tuition payment receipt.

Anyone of the two will fly, whether its in your name or in Mr & Mrs (co-owned). Its not all about including landed property documents, you should be able to demonstrate how these properties can motivate your departure after studies and how you plan to utilise them upon your return home.

You can use it as additional source of income if you run a Point of Sale services (SOP). However, I won't advice you to use opay statement as your primary proof of funds.

It might interest you to know that visitor’s visa application takes a longer time to be processed if you don't have a family member in Canada. Work Permit requires you to secure a legitimate and verifiable job from a designated employer in Canada and it must first be determined if an LMIA is needed or if the position is LMIA-exempt before applying for a work permit. Often times, dubious individuals/agents have taken advantage of this immigration pathway, thereby assuring clients of guaranteed job offers. In summary, I will suggest you apply to relocate to Canada through the study permit route as this is the fastest route to Canada. More importantly, every information on how to secure a successful study permit from Nigeria can be obtained from this platform. I hope this information satisfies your enquiry.

Can the school you used for your application defer your ission to January? If the answer is no. Send the new ission to IRCC with an explanation, especially if it is a different program using webform, and please save the confirmation email you receive. If IRCC decides on your application now, you are required to come to Canada with the LoA used for the study permit application.

For outdated LoA, I have had IRCC ask for new ission letters; in most cases, they don’t even ask for them. However, CBSA officers will, and they expect it to be the same one used for study permit applications. Meanwhile, to avoid finding yourself in a difficult situation, send the new one immediately while you wait to hear from the school this week.

My child just got letter to submit port this morning. We raced to VFS Lekki for submission. Last day expected in school is Sep 12.
- Application submitted in May
- Biometric in June
Used a Nigerian consultant based in Canada (introduced by a family friend in Canada) who greatly coordinated and midwifed the entire process. Not compulsory though, but extremely helpful given the high rate of rejection these days. Be careful of scammers.

Please i have a question. If are employed in your school and you work for 20 hours a week at your school. Is it legal for you to work outside campus for too? Like get extra hours too?
