Whenever I drive into any parking in major cities in America, I’ll pay a parking ticket. You can also find places without a fee which will likely be a stonethrow from where a ticket is requested but we pay anyway because those fees are highly istrative and channel into development and other services which will eventually return to the masses.
Lagos will copy the same approach, can increase the money anytime they want, then forcefully collect it and siphon it. Even when it’s obvious that the money keeps getting stolen of part of it is going into a personal purse, no one goes to jail, everyone just moves on…

The levy goes beyond roadside parking. Banks, eateries, hospitals, event centres, etc, would also be asked to pay over 200k as levy for their parking lot. Some of this businesses are already struggling.

Apart from parking levy, lagos state must introduce congestion charges, pollution tax, high property tax for landlords who are renting houses to non indegenes and create toll gates at the entrance of the state. Lagos state is over stretched, everyone wants to live in lagos. That state is not the only commercial city in Nigeria so I don't know why people are leaving their region to move to lagos to inconvenient the indegenes. Current fines and penalties should be doubled aswell. Lagos must do everything to discourage people from moving into the state. This is why we need to go back to regional government.
