I didn't POF for dependents and forgot to , fill, sign and the online consent letters. I was afraid when I read here that those two mistakes are enough grounds for refusal. I read this part 7 everyday from page 1. But we really prayed that we don't want any NSF.

Question is, can a court affidavit work in this situation? If not, what did you do in your case? What do you think can be done?

I recommend you do this. It’s an opportunity to explain possible Grey areas on your application. For example, in my case, our son had a corrective heart repair surgery in India 7 years ago. We knew the ECO would see the Indian visa and entry stamps on me, my son and hubby’s ports so we took the Liberty to explain in brief his reason for being there and also let them know he’s in perfect health condition now.

And secondly, my first UK visit visa application in 2012 was refused because I didn’t include a letter explaining my travel itinerary and cost breakdown for the trip. Needless to say, I’ve always attached a letter to all my subsequent visa applications ever since and I thank God none has been refused.

Above all, pray for for favor with the ECO reviewing your application.

A work colleague has given me her address for use in the form. She told me I could stay with her for a month till my stipend kicks in.
The address is not very far from the university as well. But a family friend is telling me that this won't carry much weight and that I need something like a lease or a booking preferably in university accommodation for my application to be successful.

So sad to read this but this is normal; it is not peculiar to your school. If you attempt to travel, you will be denied entry at the border. As your school said, you'll need to defer to the next academic intake for your course, reapply with a new CAS, and pay visa and IHS fees for the next year as you will not be refunded. Whether you updated the school or not, they did not extend the final resumption date beyond July 5th which automatically meant that your CAS had to be withdrawn. The visa will not be updated to reflect your new reality.

The above is based on a real-life situation like yours. The school stuck to its guns and UKVI did nothing to help. Positive side was that the visa for the next application was granted within 7 working days on a standard application process.

A part of me wishes that something will give in this situation but the most likely reality is the above. I apologise if that is dampening to your mood.
