Big Brother Naija Season 7 housemate, PharmSavi have come under heavy criticism from his home state, Akwa Ibom, after he made remarks they consider derogatory and demeaning to the people of Akwa Ibom State, GRASSROOT REPORTERS reports.


One of the housemates, Phyna had said during a conversation that most Akwa Ibomites are gatemen and house-helps.


In response to what Phyna said, PharmSavi whose full name is Saviour Akpan, said that was the reason he always hide his surname 'Akpan'.


Many Akwa Ibom indigenes took to social media to their displeasure over the comments made by Phyna and the failure of PharmSav to defend his people.


They lambasted the reality star for not being proud of his origin, vowing not to him in the show.

Edo is still miles better than Akwa Ibom to be very honest with you. Check the records and number of Edo indigenous graduates and employees at the Federal Civil Service Commission then compare it with Akwa Ibom.

Even till date, Nollywood directors still use Akwa Ibom and Calabar names to denote such menial and low life jobs. Names such as Akpan, Itorobong, Iniobong, Emediong, Umoh, Ekpeyong etc while they use Igbo names to display a rich and affluence character in the movie or drama. It's all about stereotype and one single story where by people stick to believe what has been told of a people. It will take a while before such derogatory and demeaning identity wipes out from Akwa Ibom and Calabar. Sad
