I didn't generalize. Besides I have lived with atheists, worked with them and have them as friends. The genuine ones don't just care about religion generally, they are neutral. Instead they are realist and focus on the things they are ionate about. Most of them I know are artists, very creative and very ionate about visual things. What you won't see them doing is setting up opportunities to argue the existence of God. They don't even think about God or talk about it. They respect people's beliefs but don't try pushing yours on them.

The ones who scream "I'm an atheist" and spend time insulting people's beliefs are the angry ones. They will quote a bible they claim not to believe and keep telling you to prove the existence of God. Why should you prove it to them? Obviously they are looking for God and thinking about him constantly, but they are also angry.

We have thousands of religions around the world but you won't see them antagonizing them. They won't even dare go near the Qur'an or Muslims. But instead, they go to familiar ground where their foundation is.

Again many of the atheists you see are not genuine, only very few are. You may be among the few but it's your choice to decide.

If there's one thing I can relate to, it's the part of not being convinced about the existence of a God, or at least, in the sense that religion tries to paint it. This isn't due to some prayer that didn't get answered. It's simply due to lack of evidence for the concept of God painted by religion. This is me speaking for myself btw. You're right but here's what I think. Religion doesn't confuse people. It's human nature to doubt, to argue and disbelief.

Even in our society today, if someone sends out a video, 100 people watch it. You would be surprised that only 20 people will believe what they are seeing with their two eyes. Some people will be asking for context, some people will say it was edited, some people will say it's a skit. Eventually that incident will be made meaningless and the message the video intends to will be lost.

Like I said it's not just religion, it's everything. The idea of Christianity was not to force people to believe. It was to a message, a truth to people. God knew many would not believe, many will counter it. Why? we have free will, which means we get to decide. If we want to follow or not. So don't make excuses for people when they don't believe, it's the choice they have made. Besides Jesus did not bring religion, he brought spiritual truth, so yes I agree with you. One should be a believer rather than being religious.

For the record, I won't blame many atheists partly for not believing in the existence of the Almighty Jehovah GOD but I will rather blame religion for imparting the wrong knowledge of GOD in them when they were still conformists.

I'm not generalising it, you can't compare how a religious person in an industrial country like the UK or US thinks compared to a third world country like Nigeria. Young people are introduced to science at an early age over there compared to here in Nigeria, there's stable light, security and working infrastructure. They are taught that there's always a reasonable scientific explanation for everything in life, where by in Nigeria people always make up religious and traditional stories for every damn thing, even if it is something that you just need to use your common sense to evaluate.

I realised that before birth while I was growing in my mother's womb, I didn't have knowledge of anything but somehow I was breathing, so in my mind I thought to myself ,if my mother decided to terminate me, I'll still not have any knowledge of anything, the same thing will therefore apply to me when I grow old and die, so I concluded that the state I was before birth, would happen after my death too , cos in the first place ,the brain to remind me of all my activities on earth would have been lowered in the grain and eaten by termites, making me draw the conclusion that we all existed by chance and not in any way different from animals...So there's no God anywhere.

I've certainly noticed the "angry atheist" type you're talking about. I think it's because they feel the years they spent in religion robbed them of some sort of life or the other. Especially for those brought up in fundamentalist religious homes.

Plus, some religious societies, especially places like Nigeria don't like atheists. And the anger they exhibit online is their way of retaliating against the hate they receive from society. Although if you ask me, that's preaching to the wrong crowd. Plus, insulting someone else's beliefs hardly accomplishes anything.

If i'm being honest, there was once a time i used to love engaging in religious debates. Not in the insultive way tho. I was just eager to share the knowledge I had gained on religious subjects.

I later stopped tho, because I realized that for most people, belief in a god is what keeps them sane, or what gets them through some hard times in life and helps them stay at peace. I wouldn't want to take that away from them, so I generally tend to avoid most religious debates in person these days.

Except of course if someone comes up to me and insists they know everything about life and the universe. Then i let them have it.

Growing up, I thought I was going to become a pastor. so I started reading (I've completed the bible more that thrice) and memorize the bible very early. It was the bible itself that makes me to ask a lot of questions that led to my factory re-set. The God of the bible seem unrighteous to me, thinks and act like human.


There is nothing like a God-being in our factory re-set, there is no heaven, there is no hell. We only learn those things while growing up.

I read about 'historical Jesus' too. And discover that all of our cherished stories are fabricated and not true.

I didn't focus on Christians rather I emphasize on the Jewish religion which is one of the oldest known religion which give birth to both christian and Islam. Plus go tell the average christian or Muslim that Zeus, Odin Buda is real. I see myself as a free thinker, a closed mind is often associated with religious folks because you are not allowed to ask questions, I bet there are questions you asked when you were kids but you won't bring yourself to ask today because it will mean you questioning god but I am free from such bonds. Simple put, religion is bad science. It was use by early men to explain the nature of there environment, modern science actually breaks off from old religion, man is a curious being I can limit my brain power while I am alive, there is enough time to rest when I die.
