Omo to be honest I no know. I booked around April when I was not sure if I will still travel or not, as I was awaiting confirmation from my funders. I tried a couple of times and didn't see any appointment date.
One Saturday morning I tried and saw available dates I just decided to chose 13th May to allow considerable time to get the confirmation I needed and sort my documents.

Mine was just luck.

Hello.Sorry for that late reply. I got my visa today by using the “Hold My Fare” option .
I guess the Consulars know that reservations are not meant to last for long so it’s probably one of the documents they first.
I applied from Ghana though and it took 5 working days to get my visa.

Thanks for providing clarity on the reservation part. Since you won't know the status of your visa application till after 2 weeks, how does the 3 days "Hold My Fare" come to play?

Hi! I just tried to look for an appointment for you on the German Embassy Nigeria website and they claim there are no appointments at this time.
Are you able to do walk in? Or a number you could call to make enquiries?

I saw Monday to Friday around that period but was unsuccessful for the first 4 attempts because of server overload.

So it will really help if you can get everything right so you get your visa on your first try.

2. Can you reduce the 2 months to 2 weeks? And when you get your visa and travel and build history , then you can go for longer periods.
3. Just a suggestion but if your finances are intact it will help to use www.booking.com and get an affordable place to stay instead of your brother’s. (choose the pay at check in option)
4. So let’s come to your itinerary:
then you can mention that you will spend say 2 days hangout your brother.
