Toyota Sienna 2001: Engine Smokes when cold (910 Views)

My sienna 2001 engine top makes lifter/tappet noise and only smokes when engine is cold and once it's hot, it doesn't smoke no matter how you accelerate. The thing now is that my engine oil shorts and I have to top half a litre every 2 weeks. Could it be because of the weak noisy tappet that oil might find it's way into the exhaust chamber or is my rings going bad? I have been advised to get a tokunbo engine top. Will it work? I will appreciate some comments before I make a mistake |

centoke30:Major culprit could be valve seals. Other things may likely be wrong as well. Visit a good mechanic. |

Check valve seal and PCV.

kernniejay:so if I change the engine top, the problem might be solved? |

EngRichie:the PCV was brought out and Shaked and it had a noise inside , which means it's still good |

centoke30:The smoke problem should be solved by that. But for the noise, first be sure what the problem is. Let a good mechanic observe where the noise is coming from. |
