The Minister of State Mines and steel development chief Uche Ogah, has declared his intentions to contest the 2023 governorship election in Abia state with an assurance that he will deploy his experience in private and public sector to bring meaningful changes in the lives of Abians, ABN TV reports.

He is seeking election to the top job in Abia on the platform of All Progressive Congress APC.

Speaking on Friday at the public declaration of his intention to lead the state next year at the APC state Secretariat, Azikwe road in Umuahia, Ogah stated that he is in the race to offer a visionary and purposeful leadership to the state.

According to the Minister, if elected as governor of Abia, he will pay due attention to transforming its economy through private sector driven initiatives to generate employment to the teeming masses.

He said "Nigeria is blessed with many natural resources that if we harness them less emphasis will be placed in the oil sector and our country will not play a second fiddle in the world.

"I will bring my experience in the private and public sector to bring valuable changes in lives of Abia people.

"My stration will be anochered on faith in God and social transformation in governance which will transform the economic, agricultural, educational, security and health sector of the state.

"I want to reinvent the dreams of our founding fathers of Abia where the rule of law shall thrive and we will reintroduce the agricultural revolution of the former Eastner region that made the economy of that region one of the fastest growing economy in world.

Uche Oga is from Uturu in Isuikwuato LGA Abia state.
Isuikwuato is in Abia North not Abia central.

Some ppl that doesn't understand Abia politics have started vibrating already.
Uche Ogah is the best bet for APC, but the tussle in APC is something else. Ikechi's group ( Buhari's squads) and OUK's gang ( the money group) should try and settle their dispute. Then they will comfortably win Abia state. PDP has taken Abia to the grass and shouldn't be elected again. No matter what...
Their disappointment of a governor should be arrested after his tenure and shouldn't be allowed to go the Senate.
Abia just need good roads , payment of salaries and Securities only...

Even a cobbler of Northern extraction would have performed better than the present PDP governor of Abia state . So I don’t care about the party but the individual competency. Uche Oga, Oti, and Udensi are better than any of the PDP aspirants.

I went to Umudike last year and that was my first time in Umuahia. I have been to Aba before. As an 042 person, mehn, Umuahia doesn't look like a capital at all. From Umuahia to Umudike, pool of water that can swallow a whole tyer of Keke Napep collects almost every where on the center of the road. I'm not talking about the hold-up on the one lane road to Umudike.

Enugu doesn't look as bad as Umuahia biko.

You sometimes need to visit other places to appreciate your city.

Any time i travel for more than a year and come back, Enugu would have changed so much that I will almost be kneeling down begging Enugu to forgive me for leaving her for that long

It just appears as though many successful industrialists like Uche Ogah just lose focus the moment they politics. This a bad precedence.
