I do not really have much in my when I started building. I was waiting till I muster enough fund to take the house to an appreciable level at once.

My mum asked me to borrow her N70k for her business and I did. The next thing she called to follow her to the site and I found out she has already gotten 500 pcs of blocks and 10 bags of cement. That was how we started.

She told me “You start by starting. Do all you can before your children start growing.” 1 started a year into my marriage and moved-in the next year.

I was considering starting when I have about 50% of the required fund.

Please where is your property located, I am asking because I want to imagine how you got a land.

Me am waiting for my savings to get to N16 millions. 4 bedroom flat with security house and the cost of land is in that money.

Is there a specific amount one must possess before initiating a building project given that one has a land already? Or is building something one can start small?
No specific amount. If you wait to have a particular amount, you may end up buying cement at 7k per bag.

The secret of building in this part of the World is tying down building materials with even the little money you have.

What you can achieve with N5M now might cost you N10m in 2023 if you wait

This is one of the reason many are poor in this country...

Once they make their first money they buy land in a forest and start what they can't finish.

Money they could have grown gets buried in the ground just to belong to the "I dey build house" crew.

When I made my first millions many years ago all the advisers came out in their numbers telling me to buy land and start building, but I know that's not what I should do.

I ignored the bandwagon and kept working hard until I made my first billion naira.

I didn't have to buy any land to build, I went to the best estates in lekki and bought the best houses and I do whatever I want.

If you like tie your little capital down inside the ground and keep blaming the government for all your shortcomings in the future.
This is quite funny
So anyone not making billions shouldn't build a house? 90% of house owners built their houses gradually, same apply to me. Even abroad it is mortgage. U don't wait till u have all the money in the world to start building.

It depends on the kind of building though.
People that started with 300k knows the kind of house they want.
There are some houses you can't start without first having like 10 million naira while there are some you cant start without first having the full amount of money.

So it depends.

Well it depends. For me when I wanted to start building in an adron estate last year, I was told I had to get it to lintel in 6 months else I'll have to be paying monthly payments so had to get millions in before starting but still sha. Once you have a land and a steady source of income then you should start because that's what will motivate you to keep pushing. If you don't start you won't push yourself and plan financially

Here"s my story I already saved up the amount required to buy house . Some how there was always something about the houses I saw . They didn't meet my requirements . So I bought a parcel of land and it took me 3 months to complete and in the 4th month I moved in . Now the downside to it was that I could not afford parcel of land in my first choice of environment I would have love to stay However am happy with what I got and grateful to God . Back to the question .. I had more than I needed to complete the project.
