I got an appointment date for capturing, but they said NIMC has to drop my NIN I don't even understand what that means.

No. Obviously the NIN did not need verification. The email i received is a wrong info, matter of fact, they verified the NIN about three times before they accepted the file when we went for capturing.

To answer your question, you need to send an email to Abuja. I got this info at the NIMC office at the immigration office. They have a desk where you can give them the NIN and they will check, then they will direct you on what to do. If you have this issue (or if you suspect you have this issue), it's best to call send the email ahead as it may take some days to do it. .

Please for those of us whose capturing date falls in 2nd and 3rd of May. How do we do it as I heard May 2 and 3 falls on a public holiday

FG to introduce online tracking system for port application

THE Federal Government will in May introduce a system online for the tracking and monitoring of port applications. The minister said apart from the National Identity Number verification and linking, there should be no other major reason for the delay in issuing ports.

“Not later than a month from today, applicants will be able to track their application online to know precisely what stage is your application. You will not have the hassle of people coming. Just go online with your reference number to check and it will state whether you are having a NIN problem.

“It will tell you the status of your application. It will tell you whether your port is ready and you can pick it. This will be a month from now by the Grace of God,” he added.

He said the waiting time for fresh ports should not be more than six weeks while for port renewal, it should not exceed three weeks. “We will get to a stage where no port applicant will meet any immigration officer in the process of processing ports and there will be no manual documentation of that process,” the minister added.

I have the nimc mobile app ed on my phone but two of the numbers I linked with my NIN is not showing up on the app. Although, the numbers are still functioning hence I have the inkling that my NIN may not be verified.

I want to prepare myself before paying for the renewal of my port as I don't want to go through needless stress.

True, after wasting money in Lagos. I couldn’t risk diy again. Captured Tuesday is Osogbo, got my port today. 4 days!

Same issue i have. I picked May 4th, unknown to me that day falls on holiday. I quickly picked the next available free day which is June 7.

If you already have your NIN-Number with you,, but whenever you take the NIN-Number to the Bank, they would always tell you to go back to the NIMC and tell them to Validate your NIN-Number and add it to the NIN-Database on the NIMC Computer.

This is what you would do...
..
Send an email to [email protected] with a copy-to cc.. to [email protected] and [email protected]....
..
Put the subject as “VALIDATE MY NIN-NUMBER”.
Then give them your “full name” and the NIN-Number that is to be validated.

She eventually realised that she applied with 1990 as date of birth. Whereas, date of birth on her NIN is 1989.

She is to go for capturing tomorrow.

Can she decide to change the date on the port to tally with 1989 that she has on her NIN without incuring extra cost?

She should inform the vetting officer of the error. She will be properly advised on the next steps to take. The data capture officer can edit the mistake as long as the actual date of birth can be verified with evidence.

Not as easy as you said. He will pay 15k for change of birth. Another thing is it takes time to drop. Some weeks even months.

Lols! It would have been hellish if she had made the mistake on her NIN. However, I'm 'glad' that the error only happened on her NIS application form (and not NIMC's).
All things being equal, that should be 'more direct' to resolve.

So I picked up my port, yesterday Sunday 10th April at Alausa office. The issuing date was actually March 22nd as opposed to the March 8th collection date stated on the print out after capturing. I actually told myself I was going to wait a month after the collection date so as to avoid stories that touch and I'm glad I did. It was worth the wait. Good luck to every other DIYer in the house. May the process be seamless for you too. Amen.

Hello everyone, I have a question please. My port is expiring at the end of December but I want to apply for a Schengen visa with it in May. I intend traveling for 4-6 weeks in July - August. I hope they won’t ask for a new port before issuing the visa considering the fact that I can’t apply for new one till June.
