1. Russia doesn't have the right to tell any country whether they can NATO or not.

2. Putin is showing that he is paranoid by threatening everyone just because they want to NATO.

3. Are these smaller countries not arming themselves? Why wait for protection from NATO?

Lol. The US controls NATO. Is that an argument for debate? NATO is 70% to 80% US. That was why when Trump threatened to pull out of NATO, many NATO countries were scared.

And are you arguing that NATO doesn't do what the US says? Almost all the wars that Nato has been involved in was because the US said "let's go fight" (invasion of Afghanistan, Invasion of Libya, Bosnia war, Croatia war). That doesn't mean other NATO have no say in NATO

The point I tried to made was that if the US agrees for Russia to Nato today, Russia will Nato. It may take years for the US to convince other NATO of the need for Russia to Nato, but at the end of the day, Russia will Nato.

If the reverse is the case, that is most NATO countries want Russia to Nato and the US says no, it will never work. That is what it means to control an organization.
