I think that's the same case with the pythons..

You are confusing docility with comfortability around humans.

Snakes in the wild are just as docile as snakes raised in captivity, but snakes in the wild are not comfortable around humans. They will run at the sight of humans. But snakes raised in captivity who have grown used to the scent of man, will be more comfortable, and may be seen slithering around in the open even with people around.

Python used to be very common in some villages in the East. Because they have no venom, people used to be less violent with them. This in turn made pythons to be very docile. In some villages in the East like mine, it used to be a Big sacrilege if you kill a python since they actually sneak in to the home and curl up harmlessly at any warm place.. Not until the new pentecostal churches started with their weird concept of seeing demons and evil spirits in everything including cats, bats, owls and snakes..

Every animal that comes in with humans in their homes Nigeria has been turned to a weapon of spiritual warfare by many new generation and even now old generation churches with their yahoo pastors.
Even bats,cats,wall geckos etc are evil according to these churches and their gullible adherents.
Meanwhile in years gone by these animals were well respected and treated as such without any allusion to them being sent by anyone to harm us,by our forebears,till all these scammers entered the house of the Lord.

Pythons don't kill humans and it has nothing to do with them wanting to kill humans or not.
They simply cannot kill humans because they can't swallow that size of an animal even if they manage to constrit it,which is extremely rare.Even a python that is 4 times the size of this one would only try to constrict a live human being in extreme hunger and under extreme circumstances.
Many villages in the East have these pythons and they allow them go unharmed.It's simply because pythons don't kill because they ain't venomous that over the ages many villagers have come to the mistaken belief they are a sort of god,which is pure gibberish.
It's just the nature of pythons all over the world!!
They feed on other animals.
