I've been invited to the third stage of sterling bank recruitment. This stage is called assesment center and the mail I received reads that the Assessment Centre will test skills such as creativity, critical thinking, analytical skills and digitally savvy skills...

Honestly, I do not know what to expect. Any idea?

Expect to see people who were once in your shoes but would be acting like gods because you are now trying to be like them and they are going to be assessing you. Don't be afraid...be confident. The worst that can happen is for them to keep their job....period!

When did u received the mail??
I have someone who did his own yesterday.
You will be asked questions on leadership and some questions to test characters. Also, u will be given questions on Excel which u will later transfer to PowerPoint and make presentation on it. Also, u will be paired in group to make group presentation.

i don’t know but don’t be scared just be bold and answer with all confidence



Anyway, Agriculture is life.

Best way to land a job is to keep an open mind.

Answer questions as objectively as possible and know that you want the job for money, at least from this part of the world.

Congratulations for your invitation. There's nothing special about Assessment Centre. It entails different stages. It's a day thing! You'll see other guys that got to that stages with you. What are they looking for?
1. They want to see your presentation skills. They will give you a case study. You will be given sometimes to study it and give solution to the issues arising from the case study.
2. Teamwork. You guys will be divided into four or five different groups. A topic will be given to your group to deliberate upon. Now, ensure you contribute in your group. This stage, the accessors will not be monitoring you but camera will. They want to see those that are contributing. This stage you can be given 30 minutes. You can tell your team that you will be the time keeper, I'll advise you to represent your group because this will help you alot. If you're not the bold type no wahala.
3. You'll need to come and present your case study you're given initially. Try and be brief with bullet point. You'll be given 5 to 7 minutes to present. You may include graph in your presentation to show you know what you're doing.
4. This stage, there will be interview. Know your onions and go and succeed. Also understand how to use CAR to respond to situational interview.

sha just know how to write a memo.. It is very important.

Read about sterling Bank and what they are currently targeting to achieve. You must have the correct questions to ask when the time comes for you to ask them questions.

Your questions must focus on what the bank's strategies are and how they intend to achieve them. The questions you ask may be the thing that will distinguish you from other candidates. Your questions must be intelligent questions.

Have mastery of all the those "lies" and "achievements" you indicated on your CV. You must be ready to defend every skills and training you claimed to know and have attended. It is not uncommon for people to lie on their CVs and embellished them with lies, just know how to defend those lies.

Look smart and suave. Don't wear those boggy and oversized suites sold by those Mallams at Marina, go to idumota and get second hand Zara suite and give "Ndi Obioma" to mend it to be body fitted.

Don't take this opportunity for granted. Entering the banking sector as a graduate trainee is a dream of every graduate and it's an opportunity to set your career on a path of growth.

Use the STAR approach and narrow down your examples to the skills required. For example, if you did a dissertation or project in finance, it should have honed your analytical skills. Just make sure all examples you give is narrowed down to the skills they are looking for. Most employers are looking for potentials, not perfection.

Be ready to answer questions relating to use of microsoft excel and Microsoft word( Checking your digital skills)

You would be given a topic with few minutes to brainstorm on it, and then required to make PowerPoint slides , and do a presentation. (,Checking your Critical reasoning and presentation skill)

Group task, a topic would be given to you as a group to discuss, give your opinion and analyze.
Try to be the if there is need for such in the group task or try as much as possible to contribute with valid points.
NB: Don't play down others opinion, don't come off as bossy without allowing others to contribute. In this activity, the are looking for how well you work in teams.

Then situational based interview.
Questions like "tell us a time you were innovative when working in a team", "tell us a time you had to deal with an irate customer" etc.
Respond using the STAR (situation, task, action and result) approach .
They are checking your competency working in a fast pace environment.

Try not to stutter and be confident. Dress well too. All the best.
