Lol. A season of borites made the thread run out of steam less than six months after the show. Let’s see if DStv will allow Nigerians watch the new BBMzansi season. I wish they don’t so their people can enjoy X-rated content alone. We deserve our leaders.

BBNaija is boring because the producers are too scared to take risks. See what Kayode and co will present next season;

1. A taller than average housemate.
2. A muscle man.
3. Entertainers.
4. A married housemate(s).
5. A slay king/queens.
6. Models and/or beauty queens.
7. A biracial or four.
8. The heir of a billionaire, known or unknown.
9. IJGBs.
10. A lokito.
11. A northerner or four.

That’s it. Since season two till six the formula was never changed. BBSA had homosexual housemates as early as the second season. If that variety continued, by now they’d have long explored transsexual housemates. Transsexuals are a fact in the Nigerian society yet we’ve not experimented with having such housemates. Boo.

The British version tried to create variety in their housemate choices once. The 2012 season had a blind man, a black woman, a fat female and some weird combination of people present in the society. They’ve tried having a female voice as Big Brother once. Although it wasn’t well received I commended the effort. The show is meant to represent reality and not a fairy tale comprising of attractive people. We have Nollywood films to present us with fantasies.

Are we to talk about censorship? Kayode has policed the show so much it should have a PG rating. I can sit and watch most of the show’s happenings with thirteen year old niblings.

Let South Africa handle the show since the nation is progressive. We don’t deserve it. When they find a way to censor the happenings thirty minutes before airing they should include us since without idiot leaders we don’t know what to do.

I’ve watched BBMzansi now for about 48 total minutes and I’m already putting names to the faces. So far, the show has been no different from ours apart from the occasional infusion of Zulu when housemates speak English. Their cameramen are bolder as they follow partially clothed housemates, unlike Kayode who always avoided such. The housemates appear to me on the range of razz to average trained status-wise. I have not seen any who stands out as upper class. My assumptions may change from further viewing.

Why is it there are no Indian and white housemates? That is a true representation of South Africa. Maybe the tag Mzansi is meant to promote an indigenous selection for South African black audiences. I honestly don’t mind, though find the situation weird. This is the first edition since the BBSA tag that I’m ready to follow so I might have not realized the change if it started long ago.

When it comes to data and sitting religiously to view the program, I will struggle. It’s not like we have twenty-four hours of electricity to keep my laptop and modem fully charged and always available. I want to watch the program on a big TV screen, but the standard definition resolution presented by Toxiatat is not encouraging. The feed goes offline during the weekends and resumes Monday through Friday. What is the point when weekends are the highlights of any BB edition? Finally, though I have data to follow the show for ten weeks, my ISP is fond of throttling bandwidth. This means after an hour of uninterrupted viewing I have to wait till the next day for a stable connection. Being Nigerian is a curse — I swear to God.
