It is not the gift (although, sometimes the type of gift should be enough to get one worried), but the motive behind the gift. And motive may be clear in the type of gift she gets.

If my girlfrend receives gifts from the same guy over and over again, I may not mind, although I may want to investigate if he does same for other people irrespective of gender.
