I4 for fuel economy V6 for power. I would prefer a V6 though because of the know issues associated the the 2azfe engine offered in the 4 cylinder. Besides the Rav 4 isn't that heavy so the V6 fuel economy would still be pocket friendly. 2 Likes |

The I4 is okay, I think 2Az engine is for 2005- 2007 model while 2008 - 2010 engine is 2AR-FE.

For me though, a 4 cylinder engine is no slouch, but I don't deem it adequate for an SUV. This is just me. If you are to choose a 4 cylinder for the rav4 then do well to stay away from the dreadful 2AZ engine which comes in the 2008 model and below. To be sure you are getting the 2AR-FE 2.5L engine for the rav4 stick to 2010 upwards else 6 cylinder all the way. City driving MPG maybe lower for the 6 cylinder, but it's negligible on highway. 1 Like 1 Share |
