Ease of getting the jobs / availability
How one can position oneself for a Big 4 job
How one can learn more or get certified in those ISO courses (i have not been able to see much online)

Thanks

Ease of getting jobs - There is shortage of these skills, for example, set up a job notification on LinkedIn with some of the certifications I mentioned earlier, try locations like (Nigeria, Canada, UK and US), you will be shocked as to the amount of job notifications which you will receive daily. The shortage is hitting Nigeria and UK more, due to Canada migration and Brexit respectively.
Search and network with those who have these skills on LinkedIn, their frequent posts & conversations will enlighten you more.

Positioning for Big4 jobs - It requires a lot of hard work and constant research, you need to realize that the career switch will not be a "walk in the park". Considering that you do not have prior experience, you need to start with earning the certifications which gives you a background knowledge about the career you intend to switch to. For example, I will recommend CISSP or CISM exams for entry into information security.

After ing one or more certifications, include them in your CV and start applying for related roles. You might need to modify your CV to include the responsibilities set in the job advert (but ensure you have a fair knowledge of them). Big4 will give you the best of training/experience especially if you can get in at an associate level, however, there are loads of smaller consulting firms/companies that will give you the chance to "kick start" your career switch with little or no experience.

Getting certified in ISO courses - ISO certifications are usually sponsored by corporate organizations due to the cost(training facilitators will require a certain quorum in class), and it's mostly bundled with the company's certification projects (usually a 3yr cycle). In Nigeria, you can check PECB accredited centres and other training institutes like Rhythex Consulting at Ilupeju, A.J Silicon at Alausa Ikeja.
In my opinion, getting ISO certification is not a good entry point, I believe the scope is limited.

In the end, your determination to succeed matters a lot. A friend of mine who has a social science degree is doing well in an IT security risk/compliance role in a Global Bank in the U.K.

Cheers.

A quick response will be appreciated thanks.

@bolded, CISSP and CISM are not entry level certification. You can't use CISSP and CISM until you have been endorsed. To be endorsed, you will need to the exam and also have minimum of 4 year work experience and
required academic qualification/certification.

This is very true.

For entry level, he/she should be looking at Comptia Sec+ and the likes.

If you are coming to England, the 7 year old will be in year 3 in September after clocking 7, 11 year old will be in year 7 ( 1st year in high school). Your last child can't start school until he/she is 4 year old. The governmentwill give you 15hrs free nursery once your baby is 3 year old though.

Regarding timing, it is usually better to enrol them in September when the session starts. However, you can still bring them in January. You might not be able to get them into your desired school due to

oversubscription. I will advise you start looking at
schools now and plan where you will live based on that.

Thanks for the information

Yes you can't use the badge, but ing the exam is sufficient for you to get an information security job.

There is no guarantee that it will get you an information security job. I have sat on interview s which candidates with CISSP did not and people without made it.
You need to answer the questions in interview before ing.

In fact, because CISSP is so wide, you might not most of the things in the book after ing. Have you attended any interview and they are asking for bell la biba or la padula? The fact that you have CISSP will raise the expectation of the interviewers that if you don't meet up, you will likely not be taken.

A lot of people do not have CISSP and they are earning a lot. So I believe that CISSP is overkill for someone looking for entry level information security role.

Thanks a lot! May God make your days long!

I do have some experience in Cloud Computing & reasonable Identity and Access Management knowledge - hopefully that would count

For the smaller consulting firms, is there any where i can look them up or a Google search would suffice for a list?

Bookmarked for future reference

I'm assuming this is for Audit.

Your brother need to work as a manager in Nigeria for 2 years before he can be considered for Manager in the UK.

It's traditional for big4 to downgrade your experience. Manager to AM and AM to Senior and so on. Depending on the big4 and your brother's performance and awareness, he will spend at least 2 years in position before he'll be promoted. If he's tired, he can switch to another big4 or one of the mid-tier firm - top10.

My advise
He should take the offer but with a higher salary. In london 50k, South 47k and North 40k is the range. Let him ensure he's getting the higheat level of AM if it's Deloitte or KPMG. Its better to spend 2 years here without promotion than stay in Nigeria just because they want to get manager before coming - just 1 advantage - you'll be way ahead in completing your 5years here with solid 2years UK experience in the bag. Most new managers from Nigeria struggle in audit, some are on year 3 and still no promotion to SM.

Again, you said your brother will be a manager in few months, you mean July or October next year. That's when big4 in Nigeria promote. That's at least 7 months plus 2 years before coming to UK as a manager. Is this your brother's promotion guaranteed? No!

This is the usual standard.

NB - i've advised based on the available information you provided. I can give him a more personalised advice if he sends me a message for free just this time.

I have a few big4 friends, they complain/say everything you’ve just said lol. I totally endorse this as true.

Also nothing wrong with coming here as less/smaller, if they are truly worth the position, they will get there in no time and even sur.

When I got CISSP, I was able to waive one year off because I had Security+ earlier. Learning CISSP will take it's toll on you but doable!. To your question, if you the exam before you have the requisite experience, you are allowed to use Associate of ISC2 but not the full CISSP designation.
